Padilla's deed included a clause that if any of them died without leaving an heir then their land would go to charity selected by themselves instead! So when Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821 all those acres became part of Mexico City Municipality which also included parts of today's Santa Monica Mountains along with downtown Los Angeles! In 1905 LaBounty Brothers grocery store opened up at 3rd and Main Streets serving both Mexicans and Anglo Americans until it closed down in 1955 due to competition from bigger stores like Safeway! One can still find items like burritos from that era around corner 7th Street between Main Street and Springdale Avenue! In 1951 Don White started his paper mill at what is now northeast corner Redondo Boulevard & Northampton Avenue making paper products such as checkers, chess sets etc… He continued running his mill until his death in 2002 but most residents know him best for his famous chili fries located just off Old Pasadena Road next to Pasadena State Normal School!
