This company was organized by a group of men who were interested in improving shooting accuracy at ranges across the San Francisco Bay Area. The first red dot sight was designed and manufactured by The Red Dot Sight Company and it was known as the TRS-1A. It utilized a monochrome CCD camera to track the target and provide accurate fire support. A new model of this sight was developed by The Red Dot Sight Company and it became known as the TRS-2. This model featured an RGB color sensor which allowed for better visualization of targets under various lighting conditions. As technology improved, so did red dot sighting options available to shooters across the United States. In 1984, The Red Dot Sight Company merged with Smith & Wesson Corporation to form American Outdoor Brands Incorporated (AOBI). With this merger came increased opportunities to develop new red dot sights that would meet shooter needs.American Outdoor Brands Incorporated (AOBI) continued developing these new products until 1997 when it merged with IMI USA Incorporation to become International Military Industries Incorporated (IMI). As part of this merger, AOBI acquired several companies that included S&W Arms Corporation (S&W), Bushnell Firearms Division (Bushnell), Magnum Research Corporation (Magnum Research), SIG SAUER AG LLC (SIG SAUER), Andover Armory Corporation (Andover Armory) and Butler Creek Arms Corporation (Butler Creek Arms). These companies provided developments such as the HVACR RED DOT sight series which utilizes a digital image processor; however, all products retain their original name/labeling from prior incarnations.

Finally, with the onset of the oil crisis in 1979, normalcy returned to El Cerrio while housing values plummeted resulting in many residents moving out of town entirely. Today, El Cerrio is an ageing residential area with few active businesses other than small groceries
