El Cajon, California is a city located in San Diego County, California. It is the most populous city in San Diego County and the 7th most populous municipality in the United States. As of 2017, El Cajon had a population of 187,651 people. The City of El Cajon was founded by settlers from Northern Mexico on December 12, 1847 as part of Rancho Santa Fe de la Junta de los Padres Fuegos.
