The first U.S.-made Ar15 upper receiver was produced by Winchester on October 1st, 1982 at their plant in El Cajon, California using a redesigned version of the Canadian CZ barrel that had already been exported to other countries! Since then, tens of millions of Ar15 upper receivers have been produced globally across dozens of different brands and manufacturers! The El Cajon Armory began business in 1965 as the Ar15 Armory. In 1978, they became one of the first companies to offer a complete AR-15 rifle system. They continued to produce rifles and accessories through 1998 when they merged with other businesses in the area to become part of The Arsenal Group. In 2001, The Arsenal Group was purchased by American Outdoor Brands Corporation (AOBC) and continues to be operated by AOBC under the name American Outdoor Brands Incorporated.
El Cajon (formerly known as Mission Viejo) is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 83,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos metropolitan area and is adjacent to Escondido and Carlsbad. The first Europeans to visit El Cajon were Spanish priests who came in 1769 for the Dominguez Rancho Conchos mission. In 1821, land sales by Mexican governor Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna led to the creation of what is now El Cajon Municipal Airport. As an agricultural center, El Cajon supported local industries such as shipbuilding and aircraft manufacturing during World War II; however, key sectors of the economy have shifted since then, with more recent development focusing on technology and logistics. The City of El Cajon was organized in 1917 when it became one of San Diego's fourteen municipalities formed during the war effort to provide services such as water supply and fire prevention. At the time it had a population of only 2 people. The municipality grew rapidly due to annexation by other cities over time; by 1930 there were over 20 settlements within its borders including Anza Borrego Springs, Balboa Park, Claremont Hills, Desert View Terrace, East Village and Highland Park just to name a few! By 1933 El Cajon had reached its current size with a population of 507 residents! A series of hurricanes hit southern California in 1939–1940 which affected both inland communities located near coastal waters as well as those further inland where saltpeter production took place; however no damage or loss occurred within town boundaries due to lack thereof being covered by insurance policies at that time. During World War II much military activity took place within town limits which resulted in some post-war growth including new housing developments such as Vista del Mar (now part of City Hall) – built on 72 acres between Harbor Drive & Saugus Road – also known locally as “Pineapple Hill” because many pineapple growers resided along that stretch before moving their operations into other parts of Southern California during this wartime period. In 1947 Town Manager Curly Haddock recommended incorporation under Article XIII section 3(a) Of The City Charter providing for municipal government with all powers granted thereinsave for eminent domain power which would be exercised only upon petition from two thirds majority vote of membership consisting thereof except that an estimate may be made by Planning Commission concerning zoning changes not affecting property value situated within corporate limits without prior approval from Membership having full knowledge thereof…. El Cajon, California is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 66,714 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area. El Cajon was founded in 1885 as a small town on the south side of Carlsbad Bay by American pioneers and sailors who had found grazing land there while exploring the newly discovered Channel Islands. The city's first post office opened in 1886. In 1917, El Cajon became an incorporated city and annexed portions of Vista Linda to the east. The largest annexation came in 1959 when it merged with Rancho Bernardo to form City of El Cajon. In 1987, El Cajon voters passed a $10 million bond Measure F for facilities such as libraries and new police stations needed to support growth after years of decline in crime rates within its boundaries. In recent decades, El Cajon has seen significant development around its airport and other areas including downtown, Shoreline Boulevard/Beach Boulevard (the main commercial corridor), North Park/Mission Trails Parkway (a popular recreational area), and Valleybrook Mall which anchors the eastern edge of town along Valleybrook Drive between Carmel Mountain Road and Mission Trails Parkway
In 1847, Captain George S. Bickerton of the California Battalion of Volunteers landed on El Cajon with a party of 30 men to explore the area. The battalion's first encampment was at Rancho del Rey, east of present-day City Hall Park. Bickerton explored both coasts of San Diego County and made sketches and drawings that are now in the possession of the US Coast Guard Museum in San Diego. He also collected plants and animals from his travels. In 1848, Bickerton's battalion was mustered out of service and he returned home to El Cajon where he erected a small wooden schoolhouse for his children. In 1850, John Wesley Powell became interested in exploring the Klamath Mountains and sent a group including himself and Charles Evans Hughes to map out an expedition route through those mountains. On July 4th,1850, Powell's team reached El Cajon after journeying for over two weeks through difficult terrain. They built Fort Point on top of Point Loma which served as their headquarters during their journey southward into Oregon Country (now part of California). The fort was abandoned in 1851 when gold was discovered near Sacramento but it is still preserved as part of downtown San Diego today. El Cajon had come into existence as an agricultural community founded by Spanish settlers in 1769 when they arrived on what is now known as Rancho Viejo de la Paz from Mission San José de las Mesas located just north-of present-day City Hall Park across First Street from Shriners Hospital & Library Building between 5th Avenue N/A street number formerly Fourth Avenue N/A building number currently used by Credit Union National Bank)
