On October 9th of that year, John Doolittle flew over San Francisco from his flying field northeast of Foster City and published an article about his experience at Rancho Magna where he also flew horses and shot arrows over water droplets while measuring wind speed and direction.. On July 12th of 1882, President James Keddie signed into law the Land-Grant Act which gave America's colleges and universities their start as well as unprecedented access to federal financial aid. This event helped spur economic development within the town center with many new businesses opened up throughout downtown areas such as Java Junction Coffee & Donuts (now called Joe’s Donuts), Bank of America Plaza (later known as Wells Fargo Plaza), Jardin del Oro (later known as Apple Inc.'s campus), Parma Theatre (now known as Regency Ballroom), Consolidated Gas Company Building (now part of HP Pavilion) and much more... The following year saw another milestone when Thomas Edison became one of only 5 men ever granted US Patent 733191 for an improved lightbulb that he christened "Edison". However it wasn't until 1915 when Clarence Akeley erected one of history's first apartment buildings - 222 Elm Street - that society really began to take notice east of Polk Street! Akeley had originally intended it solely for students but quickly found himself housing quite a few working professionals including many inventors such as Raymond Loewy whose polyester fabric was patented that same day under US Patent 366213! In 1916 Akeley sold 222 Elm Street to developer Willis Westfall who replaced it with Regency Square later renamed Oriental Park after World War II because so much evidence has been uncovered surrounding Japanese American internment during those years across various properties currently housed within the park boundaries including 24 Midtown Drive.....Since then much development has occurred within our boundaries making eastside/northwest side corridor one of Silicon Valley’s most vibrant neighborhoods!

In 1965,East Palo Alto received city status and adopted its present name - "East Palo Alto" - reflecting its growing commercial importance within Silicon Valley.
