By 1925 there were over 5,000 residents living in Dixon; however, by 1930 this had decreased to 3,000 residents due to declines in commodity prices and increase in automobile travel within Kern County. During World War II many civilians from Dixon served with distinction through their military service or participation during local conflicts such as the Mexican Revolution or World War II Japanese Internment camps located outside of town limits
