The original Lincoln High School closed in 1966 but reopened in 1984 as Dixon Middle School; it now serves students from Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1940, Richard Nixon became one of only two people ever elected to both chambers of the U.S. Congress from California – he represented Sacramento County (now Alameda County) while also serving as Governor of California for three terms between 1933 and 1945; Nixon went on to become Vice President under Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II and thenPresidential candidate during the 1964 election cycle before retiring at age 78 years old in 1972 Dixon has been listed "the most remote city in America" by Forbes magazine since 1999

Dixon, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. Dixon was founded in 1887 by John Dixon and his wife Eliza. It became an incorporated city in 1907. The community rests on an east-west trending valley that lies between the San Joaquin Valley to the north and Mount Shasta to the south. The first residents of Dixon were local farmers who lived near the confluence of the San Joaquin River and East Fork Eastman Creek. By 1887, there were five families living in Dixon: John Dixon, his wife Eliza, their two children Charles and Annie, and George Whitehouse Sr.. In 1892, a post office was established at Dixon with John Fenton as its first clerk. After several years of service, Fenton left to take over management of a sawmill in nearby Redding. In 1907, cityhood was granted to Dixon by voters via referendum when they approved $10 per capita for municipal services including streetlights and fire engines. In 1912 residential development began with homes being built along East Street from east to west; these homes were all designed by architect James Aiken . Development continued until 1978 when it reached its peak due to high demand for housing following the establishment of Kern County's monte carlo/saddleback area within miles of town center After declining popularity due to increasing competition from other towns throughout Kern County as well as changes in family composition (more people moved out after World War II), Dixon lost its status as an incorporated city on November 3rd 1979 when it merged into neighboring Bakersfield which had also become an incorporated city that year Bakersfield annexed both villages on December 31st 1980 while still retaining their charter status as cities . As part of this process Davis City residents voted overwhelmingly not to annex onto Bakersfield . On February 1st 1981 General Services Administration took over management of municipally owned water systems within boundaries defined by each village while still maintaining individual responsibility for delivering water services This change allowed for more efficient use of resources which led to increased sales tax revenues for both villages providing some financial stability during tough economic times
Dixon was founded in 1869 by James Dixon and his family. It was a small town until the early 1900s, when it grew rapidly as a result of its location at the junction of two trails. The Dixon post office was opened in 1875. In 1916, Dixon became an incorporated city.
