Dinuba is a small town in the Central Valley of California, United States. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern edge of Fresno County and is east of San Joaquin County. The first people to live in what is now Dinuba were Mono Indians who hunted and gathered game near present-day Grayling and took prisoners as captives for their own use. They were followed by the Chumash tribe which also hunted and gathered game but had no permanent homes until they erected a small wooden tower in 1827 to watch over their hunting grounds. In 1853, gold was discovered in nearby Atascadero Creek just south of where Dinuba now stands and many men from Dinuba came overland to prospect for gold. A store was built soon afterwards at the mouth of Atascadero Creek near present day Cathedral City, California. In 1855, Captain John Cranch led an American party down Atascadero Creek to try and find some gold veins but he only found quartz veins instead of gold or silver as he had expected. In 1861, George Quesada organized a group of Mexicans who set out from San Francisco with three boats loaded with goods for Rancho Rincon de las Cañadas (later known as Rancho Doce) about 20 miles southeast of Dinuba on what is now called Isla Vista Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles proper. These early Mexican settlers are sometimes referred to as "Los Angeles Californios" because they arrived during the time when Los Angeles was still just a mission station under Spanish rule located about 12 miles north of today's downtown LAX airport area on Harbor Boulevard between Spring Street and Main Street). When General James K. Polk became president in November 1852 after being elected Ulysses S Grant's running mate, he issued orders that all land west of latitude 38° east be acquired by government ownership so that development could take place closer to populated areas rather than scattered throughout vast deserts like California had been before under Mexico! This Order gave rise to ridgeline farming practices used by local farmers up into present-day Kern County which continue today among Latino residents thereabouts; while much larger farms were developed farther east along coastal sagebrush flats where irrigation water could be obtained more easily due to higher precipitation levels year-round despite low elevations (elevation changes alone have resulted in biological transformations within most parts of central CA since precontact times including significant reductions in vegetation cover across large portions inland due to windthrow effects)). A weekly market existed on First Street from 1865 through 1886 when it moved uptown into what is currently known as Town Hall Plaza; prior thereto it functioned as an open air market adjacent to Hacienda La Brea Adobe Hotel circa 1865-1868). Additionally new housing developments sprang up around airports/ naval stations during this period including Signal Hill(1950), Cerritos(1951), Van Nuys(1956), El Monte(1967), Lancaster(1974) etc.. However much larger scale emigration began thereafter towards metropolitan areas like Orange County beginning around 1942 with Japanese Americans commuting daily from Oroville AFB northeastward along I-5 then continuing southwestward via Laguna Honda Airport whence they would travel directly back home again once finished serving their duty overseas - thus reversing the process started decades earlier whereby Japanese Americans fleeing war & persecution returnedEastward onlyto depart again shortly thereafter).
