By 1906, many diamond businesses had sprung up including a smelter, sawmill, banker and several grocery stores. The town's economic heyday came during World War II when both military and civilian demand for diamonds led to an influx of workers and development of industry that included a munitions plant, car dealership, auto factory and other businesses. However, as with most small towns during wartime there was little opportunity for growth after the war ended so by 1970 Diamond Bar had shrunk to its current size. However over time some residents have started to develop new businesses such as a restaurant/café called "The Pines" which opened in 2013; a fitness center; a bedroom community known as "The Rocks"; two mobile home parks (one open year-round); and an expanding golf course which now includes 12 holes adjacent to what used to be an abandoned mine complex. Despite these recent developments it is still difficult to find any evidence that Diamond Bar has ever experienced significant economic decline despite being smaller than many nearby cities or towns with similar populations. Additionally it has always been one of my favorite places because its climate is just right - warm summers and cold winters with occasional months where temperatures exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit! Overall I really enjoy living here - even though it doesn't always feel like things are changing quickly enough for me! There are so many opportunities for discovery here - from hiking through beautiful forests near our school to spending time outdoors on some amazing fishing trips that we've taken or found ourselves on recently!
