As a result of this work, Diamond Bar developed into one of the leading historic towns in Kern County. In 1925, Diamond Bar was incorporation as a city under California law; it became one of thirty-six cities that were consolidated into the new City Of Stockton metropolitan area in 1969. In 1978–1979, Diamond Bar experienced major riots that followed Proposition 13 (a ballot measure that limited property tax increases). In recent years, diamond production has decreased due to environmental concerns over acid mine drainage at numerous locations within adjacent counties; however some current efforts are being made to revive production while also protecting local environment and economy through sustainable development measures such as green infrastructure engineering/building materials industry cluster development project located at intersection between east side arterial road connecting Los Angeles Freeway with west side rural Route 66 Road whose main purpose will be to provide employment opportunities for people who have no other source of income apart from their vote
