Diamond Bar is a small town in southern California, located about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Diamond Bar is part of the Antelope Valley region, which is also home to Lancaster and Covina. The community was founded by prospectors in 1901 as a cattle station on the Kern River. It became an important trade center for local residents and miners following the discovery of huge diamonds in nearby Kern County in 1882. The name "Diamond Bar" came from a claim placed there by John D. Rockefeller and his partners on November 3, 1882. The town prospered until the early 21st century when its economy collapsed due to continuous drought and overpopulation. In recent years, diamond mining has resumed in Diamond Bar but with much lower returns than before because of advances in technology and other forms of mines closer to populated areas. Today, Diamond Bar remains a small agricultural community with some dozen residences and few businesses clustered around the square courthouse square where the post office is located and two churches: First Baptist Church (founded 1922) and Christ Episcopal Church (1914). Although it has had some success restoring its downtown district during the last decade or so, most economic activity now takes place along State Route 395 outside of town limits; this route served as a main access road for settlers who first arrived here more than 120 years ago In addition to its role as an important cattle stop for ranchers feeding their horses near Redlands Thermal Water Dam through 1915-1920, Diamond Bar also supported citrus fruit packing operations by two men who operated out of two shipping containers parked on Main Street: William Ketchum Company from 1912 until 1916 while Jack Hirschmann ran it from 1917 until 1925; then Harry Weinstock took over until 1951 When industry declined overall after World War II many people emigrated or left California altogether including one man who started driving an open bus service between Diamond bar & Lancaster that continued into the 1990s

Diamond Bar is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It takes its name from the local diamond mine. The two main businesses in Diamond Bar are the Diamond Bar Casino and Racetrack and the Crystal Palace Ballroom & Resort. The first settlement in what is now Diamond Bar was made by prospectors in 1859. The town was founded on December 12, 1860 by Captains John Shaver (1807-1881) and David Borden (1812-1887). It became a post office on March 17, 1861. The first store in Diamond Bar opened in 1865. In 1868 it had a one room schoolhouse with 12 students and 30 teachers. In 1889, the Shaver brothers developed an oil well near present day Diamond Bar for their company, Dibble Oil Company of America Ltd., which became known as Dibble Mines Incorporated after 1902 when that company merged into Phelps Dodge Corporation. In 1893 Captain George Waddell built a small log cabin near present day DiamondBar as his home while he mined gold at Butte City Creek below Folsom Lake. He named his property "DiamondBar" because of the many diamonds being found thereabouts.
