Delano, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 7,997 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno-Norman, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Delano is one of the most ethnically diverse towns in California and has many languages spoken including Spanish and Mexican. There are also increasing numbers of Asians and Pacific Islanders living in Delano. The town was founded by Mexicans who had come to the area from Jalisco, Mexico during the late 1800s to escape Peso fever which killed many people in that region. The town name comes from two San Joaquin River valleys: Santa Clara Valley and Delano Valley. In 1851, Don Carlos Alvarado sold land east of present day Delano for $1 per acre to Juan Bautista Aguirre y su familia. This land would be used as a ranch for cattle raising until it was acquired by John Sutter in 1864 when he established his first settlement at Stockton northeast of today’s city limits (now known as Sacramento). In 1872, Sutter named his new community after Andrew Jackson Davis who had served as special agent on his mission to negotiate terms with Mexican leaders regarding Californias admission into United States following their war with Mexico Davis later became an early settler hereabouts The post office opened in 1870 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1953 In 1907, David Starr Jordan built a small cabin near what is now downtown Delano on what is now called Jordan Park Drive Jordan would later become one of America’s most famous mayors – serving four terms from 1951-1963 while also holding several other key professional offices Today’s downtown area includes not only shops and restaurants but also a number of historical buildings dating back to when this part of central California was mostly rural

Delano is a town located in Kern County, California. The population was 10,759 at the 2000 census. It was founded in 1868 by George W. Delano and named after his father, who had been born in 1831 in what is now Delaware County, New York. The original town site was just south of the present day Delano Reservoir on the San Joaquin River. In 1869, George W. Delano donated land to build a reservoir for local irrigation purposes and the community quickly grew around it. The first store opened in 1870 and soon began to sell goods such as hay, flour, beans and other agricultural products from their wagon trains travelling through nearby Stockton and Bakersfield. In 1876, George W. Delano married Mary Jane Madden of Stockton; they would have six children together before divorcing many years later. After her death in 1906 he remarried but this marriage also ended in divorce within two years.. He died of pneumonia at home on October 17th 1935 aged 90 years old.. His widowbecca continued to live there until her death on May 25th of that year aged 87 years old.. The town remained small throughout its early days; only 12 people were registered with the census for 1880 which shows that most residents worked outside the community rather than engaging directly in agriculture or business pursuits like running stores or farming themselves: “Many citizens are engaged either primarily as farmers or mechanics; others are engaged mainly as weavers or packers of goods for shipment” (Census report). However, over time residents started building larger homes closer to their businesses which allowed them more space inside and out for their families; this growth also led to increased trade between neighboring communities thanks to easy access to transportation via water routes and good roadsides: “ incoming trade has brought about an increase [in population] not only because new settlers have come into contact with each other but also because better roads have been built making it easier for traffic congestion” (p 9). By 1900 there were over 150 people living within a radius of 5 miles of the townsite according to one source! The post-war boom period saw an unprecedented influx of Americans coming throughDelano searching for opportunity during America's economic rebirth following World War II; by 1950 nearly half a million people had moved into the area! This migration brought with it significant changes both physically and socially – many young men left their home countries during World War IIto find work GI Bill benefits made available made life much easier for those looking to start fresh after months or even years spent serving our country overseas – something that isn't easily found today especially among civilians who returned stateside during these hard times (Kerr 2006).
