Davis, California is a city in California, United States. The population was 64,145 at the 2010 census. It is located in Contra Costa County on the eastern edge of San Francisco Bay. Davis was founded by brothers George and David Davis in 1853 as an agricultural town on the east side of Sacramento Valley. It became a major center for American education after becoming one of the original seven cities that formed the City of Berkeley in 1868. In 1915, Davis became one of six counties within California to become part of the newly created State of Oregon; it remained an Oregon county until 1959 when it was merged with Sacramento County. The University of California (UC) campus occupies much of downtown Davis and other parts were annexed into UC Berkeley between 1916 and 1942. The old courthouse building – now home to Oakland BART station – dates back to 1887 and is said to be one of the earliest purpose-built public buildings in North America The first scopes were made here around 1860s by Seeley & Sons (a telescope manufacturing company). These early telescopes were crude but did provide some stunning views from high up into space including observing Neil Armstrong's first walk on the moon! The most common type of spotting scope is an objective lens that is fitted with a mirror and allows the user to direct the light onto the target. The name “spotting scope” comes from its use for targeting artillery fire at long range. spotters were typically someone who could see what was being fired at them so they knew where their shots should land. Spotting scopes became more common after cannons became mobile and could be moved around so they could be better aimed. By 1819, there were many types of spotting scopes available on the market including reflectors, bipods, reflex sights, periscopes and telescopes. Each had its own advantages and disadvantages which made it necessary to choose the right one for each situation. In 1892, Edward Ayer created a new type of spotting scope called an “Aitkinian microscope” which allowed magnification up to 100x! This made it possible for scientists and engineers to see things that they would have been unable to notice before!
