During World War II, much activity took place withinDanville due to its strategic location near Los Angeles and other military installations throughout California. Many businesses operated during this time including Arboretum plastics ( later Arboretum Industries ), Cannery Row clothing store (later Sears Roebuck & Co.), Food alloys Plant No 1 (later Alcoa), Primavera oil refinery (later ChevronTexaco) as well as munitions factories like Navy Yard Ammunition Works and Naval Ordnance Works Number 10 where thousands of men worked on building warships etc.. In 1948-49 when Interstate 8 was completed east of town through then unincorporated Contra Costa County - danvilians voted unanimously to annex it making their community officially one with more than 100 thousand citizens! This led to some exciting changes for danvilians during this time including annexation into nearby Walnut Creek Unified School District; increased access to education opportunities through open enrollment policies offered by neighboring districts; growth in commercial areas such as West Glen Oaks shopping centers; development of new neighborhoods such as Highland Park/Laguna Hills; increase in housing prices across town resulting from increasing demand from commuters commuting into downtown Los Angeles or other rapidly growing metropolitan areas; increase in tourism activities which has led to visitors flooding into town on Special Events weekends like Kings Day etc.; overall success story which has been celebrated annually since 1951 by proclaiming "Danville Is On The Rise" at various events hosted throughout town

In 1847, Danville was founded by Captain George W. Dixon and his family as a small town in the southern San Joaquin Valley. The town grew rapidly due to its location and the abundance of water resources it had access to. In 1865, the first post office was established in Danville. By 1870, the population of Danville had reached 500 residents. In 1878, John Fenton became the first mayor of Danville. In 1886,Danville became a city and was renamed after George Washington Carver who died in 1887.
