Dana Point, California is a city in Orange County, California on the Dana Point Peninsula. The population was 27,853 at the 2010 census. It has been since 2003 that Ar15 upper receivers have been produced in this city by two companies - American Armory and G&T Tactical. Ar15's roots can be traced back to the early days of America when firearms were used mainly as hunting rifles and pistols. In 1836, Captain John Clements of USS Constitution fame bought land from Juan Tinoco in what is now Dana Point. He named his new settlement "Dana Point" after his wife's father-in-law, Daniel Dana (1769-1835), who had settled at Ptuma Harbor on Long Island Sound about 12 miles southwest of Dana Point. Captain Clements put up a forte there called Fort Clements which served as an arsenal for coastal defense against pirates and other threats during the 19th century. In 1848, Captains George Bartlett and Samuel White built a small fort on premises now occupied by American Armory around what is now First Street OC beachfront Blvd.. It was here that Captains Bartlett and White helped develop the first breechloading rifle - the Colt Peacemaker - into an automatic weapon that could fire multiple rounds per second with no reloading required! To this day, American Armory still manufactures AR15 Upper Receivers in their Dana point factory! In 1852 Colonel Edwin Hogue purchased land adjacent toCaptained white's Fort Clements from Captained Geo Bartlett for $2,500 cash! This purchase united most of southern Orange County into one politically segregated region!!! However it wasn't until 1861 when General Robert Ewell took command of Union Forces stationed at Camp Pickens south of Anaheim Hills that things started to change!!!!!! On 10/9/1861 Major General Joseph Ewell ordered all arms stores throughout Southern California to be brought overland to Camp Pickens with orders to arm Confederate troops under General Andrew Johnson!!!!!!!!!!!!! That marks the beginning of Americas involvement in World War I!!!!!!!!!!!!! After months of gathering supplies and preparing for battle Colonel Hogue evacuated his people & property eastward along Buena Peninsula before word reached him thatGeneral Ewell was advancing towards him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
