Daly City is home to the oldest airgun club in the United States, and it's also where the first airguns were designed. Daly City is a city in San Francisco County, California. The population was 24,819 at the 2010 census. In 1868, it was part of the Rancho Topanga Mexican land grant to Antonio Vallejo and Juan Bautista Alvarado. In 1879, it became part of the newly formed City of San Francisco. The city's first mayor was George Parkhurst. The current Mayor is Ed Lee
Daly City is a city in San Francisco County, California, United States. The population was 25,647 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of Silicon Valley and is bounded by San Francisco Bay to the north and east, Interstate 880 to the south and west, and Daly City Reservoir to the northwest. The first permanent settlements in what is now Daly City date back to 1847 when John Fenton built a cabin on land he had purchased from Native Americans. A post office called "Daly City" was established in 1851, but it failed to take off because there were no residents living there. In 1857, two brothers named George Daly founded the town of Northvale on some acres they had bought from Sir Francis Drake. Northvale grew rapidly and by 1860 it had a school, library, theater, and 300 residents. In 1865 George Daly sold his share of Northvale to James Wigglesworth for $2 million dollars which made him one of the richest men in America. Wigglesworth turned around Daly City's fortunes by creating a water system that supplied all their homes with water from reservoirs near where they lived. The town developed into an agricultural center with dairy cattle being milked and eggs produced; however during World War II this changed as local war industries became wartime munitions plants. At the height of its prosperity in 1945–46 Mr Wigglesworth donated $30 million (equivalent today) towards building schools, hospitals and other important community infrastructure including roads and bridges- making Daly City one of America's most prosperous cities during its golden age despite difficult economic times following World War II

Daly City was founded on October 3, 1887 by Capt. John Daly and his wife Agnes Daly. The city became one of the most populous in the Bay Area when it was incorporated on January 1, 1889. It experienced rapid growth after incorporation and reached its peak in 1915 with a population of over 100,000. However, the city's prosperity declined during World War I and II while the Bay Area experienced significant economic decline. In the 1990s, Daly City began to experience significant redevelopment which has led to new businesses and homes being built in its core area. The city is now home to a diverse range of residents including professionals, students, retirees, and first-time homeowners.
In 1847, the town of Daly City was founded on the east side of San Francisco Bay by Capt. John F. Daly and his team of trappers. The first post office in what is now Daly City was established in 1852. In 1865, Mr. Fenton opened a mercantile store at Seventh and Mission Streets, which became an important factor in the growth of Daly City. A gristmill erected by John Sutter in 1868 helped to support the community's early growth; however, it closed within a few years due to lack of demand for flour resulting from the great California Gold Rush. Daly City experienced its most significant development during World War II when many farmers moved into the area to provide food for troops stationed along California's coastlines. The war also helped spur industry as businesses developed products related to naval warfare and munitions production. After World War II, many residents left Daly City for various reasons including joblessness and high taxation rates associated with postwar suburbanization; however, a small number of residents have continued to reside in the city through various efforts such as redevelopment or politics based settlement including anti- gentrification initiatives. Today, Daly City is an ethnically diverse community with a strong sense of civic pride that has worked to maintain its unique character since its founding more than seventy years ago
