Today, members from around the world can join forces with ARPCL in order to learn about firearms techniques or attend meets throughout California. They named the area Santa Catalina for the Virgin Mary. The post office was established in 1876 and was called San Gabriel after Santa Catalina. In 1906, the name of the community changed to Cypress when a group of citrus growers donated land for this name. Cypress has been continuously inhabited since the 1870s and at one time had over 100 residents. The original church was built in 1907 and replaced in 1954 by an updated building that still stands today. Today, Cypress is known for its unique architecture which features Spanish-styleMission Revival style buildings dating back to 1903 and 1904 respectively. Many of these buildings are now used as museum or retail space. One of the most well-known structures on campus is Stroud Hall which has been home to many prominent students and faculty including Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, and Tom Cruise.

Cypress is a small town in the eastern Central Valley of California. The population was 1,604 at the 2010 census. Cypress is located on State Route 158, east of Fresno and west ofVisalia. Jesuit priest José de San Francisco visited the area in 1792, and he named it after his native Cypress County, Virginia. A post office called Cypress was established in 1853, and remained in operation until 1957. Between 1876 and 1886, Russian prospectors discovered oilfields in what is now Cypress Creek Township. In 1888, an oil well was drilled by John Denton et al., who named their discovery "Denton's Well". By 1898, over 20 wells had been drilled with yields totaling more than 2 million barrels of oil a day; however, due to gas concerns about the well location and production potential, development proceeded slowly until 1901 when Kessinger Oil Company leased land adjacent to Denton's well for production purposes In 1906 Kessinger sold its interest in the field to Gulf Oil Corporation In 1911 Gulf merged with Texaco which then merged with Shell Petroleum Company (later BP) which led to another upgrading of production from 2 million barrels per day to 10 million barrels per day before being abandoned during World War I . This made Cypresses one of the largest producers of oil in California Production resumed after World War II but declined during the postwar years as technology advances resulted in less reliance on traditional drilling methods . In 1967 Chevron bought Texaco for US $38 billion making it one of America's largest companies ; Chevron continued producing oil through 2007 However environmental regulations have causedproduction declines since then
Cypress is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 11,814 at the 2010 census. Cypress was founded in 1887 by James McMillin and his wife Eliza. The first post office in Cypress was established on December 12, 1888. It was renamed Cypress after the cypress tree near which it stood. The original town site lay within what is now the southern part of Orange County and included only the easternmost sections of today's Cypress City Limits. In 1893, an act of Congress created two more townships: Pierce Township to the north and east of Cypress Creek and Chappell Township to the south and west of Cypress Creek. These Townships wereincorporated as cities on January 1, 1896 with a population of 27 residents each (Chappell had already been incorporated as a city). On July 15, 1898 an act entitled "An Act To Generalize Laws Governing Municipal Affairs" was passed by the state legislature providing for incorporation of such unincorporated areas adjoining urban counties into municipalities if they had a population over five thousand inhabitants or if their boundaries coincided with those of any existing municipal corporations within those counties who did not yet have their own municipally constituted government. On October 22nd that year it was reported that there were 21 such municipalities having populations over 5 thousand inhabitants; 16 within Orange County proper and 7 outside it including 3 in San Bernardino County which became part of Riverside County on January 1st 1909 when Riverside became one county with its own government
