In 1951, Ladd's Sporting Goods Company opened their doors in downtown Culver City and it continued to be known as Ladd's Sporting Goods until 1975 when they merged with Dick's Sporting Goods Company which then changed their name back to Ladd's Sporting Goods Company again until 1992 when they merged with Valentine's Gun Shop which continued to be called Valentine's Gun Shop until 2006 when they closed their doors permanently due to financial difficulties.
