Its original boundaries were First Street on the east side of downtown and Spring Street on the west side - both now part of Westwood Boulevard - but they were modified in 1934 by virtue of an act entitled "An Act To Suppress Unauthorized Negro Settlements". As early as 1917 there were plans to build a commercial airport right next to Downtown; Culver City's first FAA airfield opened on November 15th at 8000 feet (250 m) above sea level just north of present-day Southbury Avenue and Aviation Way south of Long Beach Boulevard (now Airport Boulevard). The earliest actual passenger traffic occurred when American Airlines extended its network fromLos Angeles International Airport (LAX) through Culver City Airport on April 17th 1925 using Douglas DC-4 aircraft operated by American Eagle Airways subsidiary American Air Lines Incorporated; this route served both LAX and CULVER CITY CASINO & RESORT until February 27th 1951 when all flights ended at LAX due to construction work at nearby CenturyLink Field adjacent to LAX which replaced all US airports serving Pacific Time with an worldwide daylight time experience!
