In 1941, developer Harry Kapp purchased 6 acres (2 ha) near present-day downtown Cudahy to create what would become Mono Lake National Monument. Kapp donated 4 acres (14 m²) of land to the National Park Service for $1 million (). The park includes a visitor center with exhibits about local history and natural resources as well as a lakeside picnic area and camping areas for up to 100 people (). In 1984, USBurns Inc., which manufactured hard drives for computer manufacturers, moved its manufacturing plant from Wacoal to nearby Desert Hot Springs after 38 years in Monrovia Township (). At first it employed 150 people but today employs just over 30 people who make hard drive cases (), software development (), data entry () and other related products ().
As of 1990, Cudahy had a population of 12,711. The year was also the town's centennial.
