In 1868, Don Alexander Cudahy founded the city of Cudahy in the Mojave Desert. The city was named after him and is still located within his original boundaries. In 1902, Cudahy moved his business to downtown Los Angeles and opened a new store on Sepulveda Boulevard. The store continued to be open until it closed in 1966. One of the first places people settled in what is now Cudahy was about 1869 when Josiah Denton and his family arrived from Tennessee with their farm animals and built a cabin on a knoll overlooking downtown. They were later joined by other families until it became an incorporated village in 1907. The first post office was established in 1911, and the first school opened in 1915. During World War II, Cudahy played host to thousands of soldiers who came through as part of Army Air Forces training exercises over Southern California. More than one hundred businesses were closed during that time due to shortages in materials necessary for war production; however, most reopened soon after hostilities ended. In 1948, when San Bernardino County became independent from Riverside County, Cudahy annexed part of neighboring Ontario Township but did not change its name to reflect this change because it would have been against government policy to do so without unanimous consent from all townships within a county. Consequently, all villages with more than 2,000 residents continued to be known by their original names: Riverside (1907), Ontario (1998), and San Bernardino (1948). Today there are only about 60 residents living in Cudahy proper while another dozen or so reside scattered around rural areas east and west of town limits including portions of Riverside and Ontario Counties as well as parts unknown until recently - someplace betweenOntario Township lines! There has never been a single day where either side has felt majority control over anything within town limits - something that definitely sets it apart from other rural communities I've experienced while visiting these locations! In fact even though my current address changes every few months I feel like I always know where I am - despite having no idea how old my street map may be...or even where my house actually stands! That really does set this place apart - something that might just be attributable to the fact that everyone here seems more willing than ever before to take risks for what they believe in...and let's face it - those risks often pay off big time!

Cudahy, California is a small town located in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Cudahy" comes from the Yokuts word "kuda-yah", meaning 'place where there are two cedars'. The first post office in Cudahy was established in 1885. In 1907 a school was built and named after Mrs. Hilda Jeter Ladd. The town's first store opened on Main Street in 1912 and became known as the Cudahy Store. A community center was built east of Route 66 on land donated by Melvin Jeter and his wife Hilda Ladd in 1956. In 1957 a branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad was extended to Cudahy from its main line at Needles through what is now Butte Valley to serve local businessmen and farmers. At that time it was one of the few railroads serving rural communities outside of Los Angeles County proper. The town experienced rapid growth during World War II due to wartime production by Boeing Airplane Company, which laid off many residents in order to create more jobs for Japanese Americans living south of San Francisco Bay Area; however much prosperity did not last into the postwar period when manufacturing moved offshore to other countries or away from danger caused by nuclear testing sites such as plutonium dumps near Geiger Heights (later Hanford). In 1980s new businesses started up such as an auto dealership, hardware store, software company and a pizza place near Interstate 710 exit 149A/I-5 north of downtown Kern County; these businesses remain active today but have since lost most customers due to competition from larger stores within minutes' walk along I-710 corridor east of downtown Kern County or similar shopping malls located closer to major metropolitan areas with larger economies than Kern County's modest size relative to those found within its borders

Cudahy, California was founded on October 14, 1847 by John Cudahy and his wife Elizabeth. The town is named after the Cudahys' daughter, Cynthia. It became a city on July 16, 1959.
