Coronado is a city in San Diego County, California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 857. It is part of the San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Coronado" comes from Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza's 1769 voyage that named this region after Portuguese Admiral Vicente de Noronha. The area that now includes present-day San Diego andCarlsbad was first settled by Native Americans including the Chumash and Mission Dolores people who called it Kumeyukw (meaning Place of Humpback Whales). In 1821, José Joaquín Mejía founded Rancho Coronado at what is now Del Mar Boulevard and Winchester Road. The grant covered an area which extended from Point Conception to Ensenada Creek and included parts of today’s downtown San Diego as well as much of suburban Otay Mesa and Point Loma. In 1846, during Mexican rule over California, Alvaro Sepúlveda discovered oil reserves at Encinal Bay while exploring for new land grants; he began drilling wells there in 1850 but died before production could be started. By 1862, following Sepúlveda's death, all nearby lands had been claimed by Mexico or annexed by Buenos Aires County; Rancho Coronado remained unclaimed until it was granted to Isidro Garces on November 3, 1886 by Governor George Hearst through electioneering by his brother Alfred Pacheco Garces sold the property to John Doolittle on May 12, 1907 for $5 million dollars ($ when measured in current dollars). Doolittle renamed it Coronado after General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna himself who had helped purchase Rancho Miura from Diputados Francisco Javier Torres y Costilla in 1834; Santa Anna had also bought Rancho Cuyamaca from Manuel Nieto nearpresent day Imperial Beach. After becoming governor on February 14th year 1912 (he succeeds Benito Juárez), Doolittle revoked Santa Anna's title to both properties because he felt they were still under Mexican jurisdiction even though they were now part of American soil - although Santa Anna did receive some compensation for his lands acquired during Mexican rule). On January 15th 1915 actor Douglas Fairbanks Jr., son of acting legend Douglas Fairbanks Sr., visited Padres Park home plate field just south of town limits where he hit a long fly ball off long reliever Franchy Cordero into right field for a 3-2 victory over visiting Angels; local youngsters lined up around home plate handily waving US$5 bills in memory of fairbankstown kidfairbanks jr.;[1]Alameda County became coextensive with what is now San Diego county on March 9th 1916 when various areas east thereof were added as part of the newly formed City Of San Diego . On October 16th 1916 Captain James Eads relieved Captains Kearny(west coast)and Wainwright(east coast)of their duties as commanding officers at Camp Craft located about four miles due north bungalow park corona beach . Naval Air Station Miramar replaced Camp Craft as northernmost naval air station within U.S . Navy ; Miramar would later become available for use as an Army Air Forces base . From 1940–1945 Japanese forces used Corona Field for training exercises during World War II According to the 2010 United States Census Bureau estimate,[2] 756 people live in Coronado Urban District comprising portions of northwestern San Diego County along Interstate 5 (I-5), stretching across eastern Otay Mesa into northeastern La Jolla County and extending southward into Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Pepper spray is a type of self-defense weapon that uses compressed pepper gas to cause fear or pain. Pepper spray has been used in police and military forces around the world for over 50 years, and is now considered an integral part of law enforcement. Pepper spray was originally designed as a way to subdue large animals, such as bears, mules, and wild horses. Today, pepper spray is also commonly used during lawful public protest activity such as demonstrations and sit-ins. The benefits of using pepper spray include preventing violence and causing fear when confronting individuals or groups who may be dangerous or threatening. Although there are some risks associated with its use, pepper spray can play an important role in preserving civil rights and order while ensuring public safety.

The pepper spray was first developed in the early 1800s by a man named John Muir. The pepper spray was originally used as a way to control Native Americans and other rebels during the American Revolution.

The Spanish explorer and military leader Francisco Pizarro, known as the "Iron Man of Peru," discovered California in 1542 while on a campaign against the Inca. With the help of Gaspar de Portolà, he explored the San Pedro River valley and its North Coast in 1549. Inspired by his experiences in Central America, Pizarro set out to explore what lay beyond the Andes in March 1553. After reaching Point Conception about 25 miles north of modern-day San Diego, he discovered a new route across central California to Yuma Pass. The first European settlement at Coronado was established on November 14, 1776 by Lieutenant Colonel José Antonio Sanchez from Mission San Diego de Alcalá. It was during this time that Juan Bautista López discovered major gold fields near present-day Fillmore City and named them after General Francisco Pico (1537–1604), who had defeated Hernando de Soto at Palo Alto on October 12, 1641. The town of Coronado soon became an important trading center due to its proximity to valuable mineral resources such as silver and gold. Many famous people were born or died here including Christopher Columbus, Mexican independence leader Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, Ulysses S Grant and author Rudyard Kipling. The city's fame declined following World War II but has since recovered with several mixed-use projects such as Coronado Park adjacent to downtown and Cal State Fullerton's newest campus nearby

The area now known as Coronado was first settled by the Tongva, a Native American people, in the early 1800s. The first European to visit the area was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, who landed on San Diego Bay in 1542. In 1769, Gaspar de Portolà discovered and named San Francisco Bay after his friend and mentor, Father Junipero Serra. In 1821, Lieutenant Governor of California Manuel Micheltorena designated part of what is now Baja California as a reservation for Mission Indians called Rancho Santa Margarita. With the help of Alvarado County's Captain Fernando Garza, they built sixty-six adobe homes on Rancho Santa Margarita between 1825 and 1830. By 1835, over one thousand Mexican citizens had signed up to live on Rancho Santa Margarita. In 1846, during the Mexican–American War (1846-48), General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered all male Mexican civilians living within five miles of Los Angeles to leave their homes or face execution. This order led to many families moving away from Coronado and into new locations such as La Jolla and Encinitas. Only seventy-one percent of these civilians left voluntarily; the rest were forced out by violence or foreclosure. On July 24, 1850 United States troops burned down ranchos owned by Mexico in response to raids by Ulysses S Grant's forces near today's Del Mar Peninsula; this event is also known as "the burn." Afterward many Mexicans returned home while others moved into what is now Orange County around this time frame
