In 1915, the club became affiliated with the California Rifle Association and took on a more military-style appearance. In 1916, they started using World War I vintage machine guns to shoot targets at the local fairgrounds. In 1928, the club changed their name to “Corona Firearms & Ammunition” and continued to use pistols for target shooting and competition purposes until 1935 when they switched back to rifles for all activities. In 1945, Corona Firearms & Ammunition merged with another rifle and pistolclub in town named “Milwaukee Arms” which would become the Milwaukeegun Club in 1949.

A group of Native Americans then burned down Sutter'sFort killing all occupants except for Captains John Sutter and William Cahn who managed to escape uninjured.
