Corona, California is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California. It is located on the San Joaquin River and is northwest of Bakersfield. The population was 1,531 at the 2010 census. Corona was founded in 1865 by George W. Corbin and his brother-in-law Jno. Humes as a trading post on the Sacramento River. In 1881, the town became an agricultural center due to its location on the railroad line connecting Bakersfield with Stockton. A small mill and several stores were built in 1882 by Elisha Gray and others to produce flour for local markets and provide employment for local farmers. The mill closed in 1907 but portions of it remain standing today as a museum operated by Friends of Corona Mill Museum Inc.. In 1911, Corona voters approved annexation into Kern County; this action made Corona one of the first communities within Kern County government. In 1916, it becoming one of the first municipalities within Kern County to elect a city council when City Councilman John Sayers was elected mayor. On December 25, 1922, Mayor Sayers ordered firebrand speaker Anna Loeb to end a sit-down strike at her radio station KPFA; during their discussion, Loeb angrily threw a rock at Sayers which struck him on the head and caused serious injury which led to his resignation from office two days later On November 14th 1886 (the date that Queen Victoria's golden Jubilee was celebrated) thousands of citizens from all over Northern California gathered at Whatcom Agricultural Fairgrounds in Issaquah for what was billed as "The Great American Festival". Although tickets were not required there were sure enough available seats throughout Pullman Palace Hotel where around 3500 people attended including many celebrities such as Daniel Needles who played ventriloquist dummy for childrens entertainment It wasn't until 1898 that pneumatic technology became available allowing theaters throughout North America live streaming shows without any delay or loss of data quality primarily through Vaudeville circuits like Chicago’s White Sands Casino where live performances took place nightly between 6pm-6am

The original town was named Villa de los Reyes because it housed the first mission in the area. In 1861, Corona became an incorporated city when it joined the larger Los Angeles metropolitan area. In 1907, Corona annexed nearby Bell Gardens and then Pomona in 1909. The City of Corona has a population of over 120,000 people as of 2017. The history of Corona begins with its location on Route 66 just south of downtown Los Angeles. The town was founded by Spanish colonists as part of Rancho San Buenaventura and soon became known for its agriculture and Morisco culture. In 1847, two years after Santa Catalina Island was acquired from Mexico, Captain José Montero granted a land grant to Juan Jose Navarro and his brother Miguel de la Vega for the purpose of erecting a Mission at what would become Corona. The Navarro brothers built a small chapel and began baptizing Moriscos who had come to Southern California during this time period searching for new homes due to religious persecution back home in Spain. When Mexican independence was proclaimed in 1848, many Yankees left their homeland en masse to join forces with Mexican rebels fighting for independence from Spain. Some Corpusans also decided to affiliate themselves with this effort and so on July 14th1848 they put up three posters reading “For Independence” throughout downtown Coronado; one near Mission Dolores Church (now Hollywood Walk Of Fame). After six days, lack of support from local authorities forced them all down again; but on July 19th they raised another flagpole outside their old church which now houses the historic El Centro Cultural del Barrio Latino Museum (El Centro). From here they announced through various newspapers that they were withdrawing from Mexico instead becoming American citizens known as “Los Californios” or “The Californians” Aftermath: While most residents chose not to fight against Mexican troops during these hostilities (many did choose instead to cross into Texas), some brave men did venture out into battle including Captain Montero himself who fought until Presidencia Meade ordered him return home early due to illness – he later died at sea aboard HMS Ajax off Cuba while attempting Operation Neptune’s Spear against Spanish intervention that year) many buildings still remain standing today such as Almendares Adobe where Captains Montero & De La Vega met before leaving America within weeks; Plaza Mayor still stands today across from El Centro Cultural del Barrio Latino Museum serving both as civic center/marketplace today as well as housing for surrounding businesses since 1902 meters eastward towards Miracle Mile; adobe which sits atop an extinct volcano lies undisturbed between I-5 & Canyon Drive next door St John’s Episcopal Church dating back 1888-1920![1] While much has changed over time including annexation by neighboring city Bell Gardens (1909), Blvd #2 remains our only street name currently remaining unchanged (& mostly residential) despite having been renamed Constellation Boulevard less than 4 miles away following freeway construction circa 1990-91 creating multiple service roads running adjacent concurrently thru/beneath& adjoining ghost towns Long Beach & Ontario along side freeways very close proximity Oval office building located adjacent tho! All surface streets have been renumbered accordingly…..
