The Corona Firearms Industry dates back to 1892 when a group of investors formed the American Gun Company. The company became the leading firearms manufacturer in Southern California and exported firearms to many countries. In 1924, American Gun Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to create Winchester-Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation (WRA). With WRA’s resources and experience, it quickly became one of the leading firearms manufacturers in the United States. In 1957, WRAs parent company, Remington Arms Co., merged with rival turret manufacturing firm Stevens & Sons to form Stevens & Sons-Remington Arms Corporation (S&SA). S&SA continued making revolvers for Remington until 1981 when it purchased Browning handguns from its parent company. Browning handguns were produced by S&SA until 1992 when it merged with Savage Arms Corporation. Savage then ceased production of handguns altogether. Guns manufactured by WRAs predecessors continue to be popular today and are still used by law enforcement officers, hunters, and target shooters around the world.
