In 1938, during World War II, local farmers developed their own munitions production for use in the war effort; this led to rapid growth in industry within Corona thanks to military contracts and new markets for exports outside of California. However, after 1945 most manufacturing left town as businesses encountered difficulties adapting to recessionary times throughout America. After years of decline and stagnation many businesses were closed down or outsourced after restructuring became more difficult during the 21st century economic downturns that swept across North America However given its proximity to downtown Los Angeles as well as other major metropolitan areas in Southern California it has slowly recovered beginning in late 2016 following investment by Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office targeting job creation and infrastructure development including a new stadium for MLS’ LA Galaxy soccer team which will bring about 1 million jobs into town over 5 years . The mayor also plans additional investments such as: $100 million dollars for public transportation projects; $25 million dollars for beautification initiatives; $10 million dollars for affordable housing initiatives; $5 million dollars for community gardens; and $1 million dollar per year towards building arts programs

Afterward, Corona suffered from many economic problems including low taxes and no real government support. In 1907, following passage of the State Constitution Revision Act (Chapter 9), Corona became part of Riverside County with a population of 20,000 people. It has seen continuous growth since then with an estimated population of 83,000 as of 2010. Today's economy is based mainly on tourism which attracted millions visitors over the years to enjoy beautiful views such as Mount Diablo or Thermal Springs from their home townsfolk in Corona del Oro or Hermosa Beach across San Diego Bay to neighboring Escondido and Carlsbad . A Brief History: The first human beings who lived permanently near where we now sit set up camp hereabouts around 1250 AO ago according to some archaeologists studying old hieroglyphics discovered in this locality while digging through ancient ruins located about two miles west along mission road thenceforth called "New Mexico avenue" until its extension northward into Richland county by Don Pedro de Alvarado grant dated 1685 AO being page 327 inclusive under colonist grantee's name Juan Bautista Menchaca y Peralta alias Menchaca 10 Jun 1769 once upon a time there was an Indian village situated hereabouts about three leagues east from our present day location having several huts built therein but these dwellings have long since disappeared’ said one contemporary historian chronicling early Californian history The first Europeans living in what we call today Southern California arrived during Spanish colonial times when missions were established throughout much of central and southern California primarily due to gold discoveries made at Mission Trails near Tulare Lake by José Gabriel María de León y Costilla during 1795-1800 . The area was later explored by a group of Mexican soldiers led by Hidalgo de Soto in 1821, who discovered gold and silver mines here. The discovery caused a large influx of settlers, who quickly founded towns and villages throughout what is now Corona County. In 1846, California became part of the United States following the Mexican-American War. As a result, Corona became part of American territory. The town developed rapidly during this time, with businesses opening up and homes being built. By 1870, Corona had over 1,000 residents. In 1916, Corona was incorporated as a city under the provisions of California's Local Government Code. During World War II, Corona played an important role in the war effort by providing ammunition for military forces and manufacturing munitions such as artillery shells and tanks. After the war ended in 1945, economic development slowed until the late 1990s when investment resumed in downtown areas such as parks and libraries
