Corcoran is a small town in Kern County, California, located about 11 miles east of Bakersfield. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kern City Unified School District. The town was founded by Mormons in 1867 as a ranching community on the edge of what is now Corcoran Valley. The name may be derived from Utah's Mormon pioneer leader Orson Hyde Correlation (1801-1868), who named his ranch corral after the Spanish word "cordoba." The community saw its first post office in 1870 and soon developed into a small farming town with several stores, two churches, and one school. During World War II, local farmers produced food for the war effort and many people worked at local munitions plants. When the war ended andproduction stopped, many residents left to return to their farms or other businesses outside of town. However, some new residents started businesses inCorcoran during this time period including an R&D company that later became Apple Inc., as well as several restaurants and bars that continue to operate today. In recent years there has been an increase in retirees moving into Corcoran from nearby Bakersfield and Rancho Cordova due to its proximity to Interstate 5 and its easy access to state parks and beaches. While it may have lost some popularity among young professionals since they moved out to larger cities such as San Francisco or Los Angeles County, Corcoran still retains a strong agricultural base with crops like lettuce, tomatoes, fruitseed oilseed rape, eggs (including chicken eggs), cottonseed oilseed rape concentrate (a type of sunflower seed), corn products (canned goods)and hay being major exports. In addition to these primary activities there are also numerous services offered such as real estate brokerage/investment/lawsuits; web design/development; home remodeling; pet sitting; landscaping; software development; accounting services; carpentry work; repair shops

Corcoran is a small city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 34,591 at the 2010 census. It is situated on the eastern edge of town and has a downtown area with several buildings dating back to the 1870s. The city's original name was Prospect Hill and it was established by landowner John H. Corcoran as an agricultural community in 1887. In 1896, Corcoran became part of the newly created San Bernardino County and its history can be traced back to that time as well. One of the first things that county officials did when they took over was to rename Prospect Hill to Corcoran because it had been home to such prominent people as Sheriff George Payson Smith and Judge Harry Hinklebaugh. In 1957, when San Bernardino County merged with Riverside County, Corcoran became part of Riverside City Limits which makes it one of only a few cities in California with city limits stretching both north and southside!
The city of Corcoran, California was founded by the Mexican Americans in 1847. The creation of the city was in response to a problem that had been brewing for many years: large amounts of water were not being diverted from nearby irrigation ditches to provide potable water for the growing population. In 1846, two businessmen named Juan Ortiz and José Martinez started a company called the Rancho Corcorol de la Mesa, which became the first commercial enterprise in what would become Corcoran. The business flourished for a few years until it was destroyed by a fire in 1849. In 1850, General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered all Mexican Americans living east of San Diego to leave their homes or face deportation. This movement forced many Mexicans into Corcoran and other rural towns along the coast. However, as time passed and more people moved into town, the business returned to form and grew even larger than before. By 1870, there were over 100 businesses in Corcoran with over $1 million worth of sales. During World War II, much activity took place withinCorcoran due to its strategic location on Route 101 between Sausalito and Tiburon. Many factories were built here during this time including United States Naval Weapons Station Earle Court (now known as Point Conception National Monument), Dow Chemical Company plant #1 and Procter & Gamble plant #2 among others. After World War II ended, many businesses closed down but some such as United States Rubber Company (now known as Koppers) continued operations until 1980 when they merged with P&G Corporation to form Procter & Gamble AG
