By 1907 Concord had become an incorporated city under control of Alameda County – one of nine cities formed within California during this period due to concerns about railroad development throughout the state (the others being Fremont, Oakland, Sacramento, Stockton/San Joaquin/federal government lease towns Tulare/Visalia/ Placerville/Fresno). The population grew rapidly during this time as new subdivisions were developed around town center including Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Reserve Seaport District No 2 which attracted large numbers military personnel stationed there during World War II while also housing many high-tech companies such as McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company’s Northrop Grumman Corporation plant (Marine Corps Air Station El Toro) located adjacent to Town Hall Park across from Interstate 80 main street). After World War II ended however growth slowed overall due primarily to drought conditions which impacted most agricultural areas throughout California but especially Concord where crop yields decreased significantly because water usage increased following conversion from farmland into urban area." Today's downtown core contains many businesses dating back to before incorporation such as Bancroft & Sons Hardware Store built 1886 which still offers hardware items today along with several restaurants including Café du Monde Italian Restaurant built 1913 which was once considered one of Californias top restaurants according to restaurant guidebooks contemporary with incorporation including Tryst Japanese BBQwhich opened 1967 - open until 8pm nightly now operated by sister business Pretzel Beer Company Eataly Pizza built 1912 next door Stay Open Cafe 1936 - currently operates 24 hours daily served breakfast until 6am closed Mondays dropped lunch service due weather only stays open till 11pm Mon-Fri)
