In 1951 when Berkeley split into two separate municipalities – Alameda and Contra Costa Counties – Concord became part of Alameda County while McClung Heights remained within Contra Costa County On December 13th 1957 Mayor Eddie Jordan announced plans for redevelopment along Albany Street between Hayward Boulevard/Orchard Road/Folsom Street which would result in 2 million square feet (190,000 m²) being developed over 10 years with 5% becoming residential units while 50% would be used for industrial purposes such as manufacturing plants ; this development served as a model for later planned mixed use projects throughout Downtown Oakland
