The history of binoculars in Commerce, California can be traced back to 1838. At that time, a man by the name of John Sutter founded the first sawmill and millinery shop in what is now known as Sacramento. He began selling binoculars to tourists and farmers around town. Soon, other businesses followed suit and Sacramento became home to one of the largest optical industries in the United States. During the early 1800s, people inSacramento used binoculars for navigation and hunting because they were not available to them with their current technology. In 1881, when Mr. Sutter donated his stock in the company to Charles Wickersham (the son of an Englishman who had settled in California), he also founded The Wickersham Eye Company which manufactured binoculars until it merged into Deere & Co., Incorporated on October 1st, 1925. Binocularity was introduced into America during this time by some European immigrants who were fascinated by American landscape and culture while they resided here. By 1840 there were already several companies manufacturing telescopes including ones made by Mr. Sutter’s friend Dragoonshire & Sons at 9th and Townsend streets between Folsom Street and Masonic Avenue; however these only produced small-scale models which did not provide a good perspective for viewing large landscapes or panoramic views like those seen today with high-quality stereoscopic equipment like binoculators or spotting scopes using lenses of different focal lengths (longer on one side for close up/wide open views on the other). After years of experimentation, Captain James Cook discovered Australia through his use of a telescope aboard HMS Resolution which he obtained from Spain via pirate trade during his famous Voyage of circumnavigation (1770-1776) – thus demonstrating that regular seafarers could see land located far away even though their charts showed no such thing! After Cook’s discovery many Europeans built telescopes specifically designed for mapping Australian coasts so that they could begin plans for settlement there! However these efforts failed due to lack of funding as well as competition from American rivals such as Royal Dutch Shell who had already established themselves in Australia with their own vessels charting its coasts! It was only after British explorer Sir David Livingstone arrived hereabouts around 1859 did Europeans start realizing just how vast Australia was compared to Europe (!), penetrate its interior (!), establish townships inside its boundaries (!), explore its unique topography (&ecology!),and map all significant waterways (= rivers) leading thereto (= Northwest Passage)! And all this without ever having set foot ashore!!! Thus commenced modern Southwestern exploration!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 1868, Merchants Bank moved from downtown to a new building on State Route 9 (now Geary Boulevard). This new bank served as a model for many subsequent banks throughout California. In 1916, Merchants National Bank merged with First National City Bank to form First National Bank of California (FNB). One of FNB's first actions was to establish an insurance bureau within the bank so that it could offer comprehensive financial services to its customers. On October 15, 1998, Mayor Jerry Sanders announced plans to redevelop Downtown Commerce into one of America's most vibrant urban cores with high-quality retail stores anchored by large anchor restaurants like Safeway (later Kroger) and Costco; office space available for small businesses; large public squares located near key transportation nodes;ational parkland adjacent to downtown;and special events venues such as an annual Chinese New Year celebration or an American Legion Ball with live music performed outdoors on beautiful days during summertime. A Master Plan prepared by landscape architecture firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill called "Downtown Commons" unveiled in February 2000 proposed enlarging the central square by 50 percent including development of five additional blocks east of Market Street between Third Avenue South and Eighth Avenue North along I-280/I-580/El Camino Real—a project that would have included 5 million square feet (460,000 m2) of commercial space across eight blocks bounded by Yerba Buena Parkway on one side and Interstate 680/I-880/Eighth Avenue North on another side - making it one of Northern California’s largest mixed use developments ever undertaken outside Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay Area cities where similar projects have been carried out recently including Emeryville’s Paseo de la Reforma area near Livermore Valley BART Station

In 1849, the first post office in Commerce was established. In 1853, the town of Commerce was incorporated as a city. The population growth and development of Commerce led to the erection of many buildings in the early 20th century, including the first municipal building which was built in 1903. By 1950, the city had a population of over 100,000 people. The downtown area developed into a major commercial district with several large hotels and department stores. In 1967, Commerce became an all-city municipality.
