The ETG was aimed at the target by means of an adjustable nozzle on the tube. When discharged, the energy from the weapon caused sudden paralysis or stunning of the victim. Tasers were first developed in 1974 by two American scientists, Gerald Clarke and Lawrence Weiner. They named their new weapon “taser” after tasering—the traditional punishment for crimes such as assault and larceny—and submitted it to safety testing in 1975. In 1978, Taser International Inc., based in Omaha, Nebraska filed a U.S. patent for its taser system; this filing is also still expired. The ETG was first used in law enforcement in 1982; however, it remained primarily military use until 1997 when it was licensed to police departments across the United States through their joint venture with Siegenthaler Electric Corp., now Alcatel-Lucent Technologies Incorporated (formerly BellSouthTel). In 1998, Taser International Inc.'s product line was reorganized into three main divisions: taser guns (including submachineguns), electric shock weapons (ESWs), and electric Stun Guns/Submachineguns (ESTGs/SMGs). From then on called "Tasers", these divisions continued to produce different types of devices which fell into various categories according to their ability to stun or paralyze victims: short-distance ESWs are designed to incapacitate targets within five feet of where they are hit while medium-range ESTgs can reach up to 25 feet away before failing; long-distance ESWs can be fired up to 60 feet away from their target before failing In 2002 TASERS - USA introduced its newest model which is called Starfire II In 2004 TASERS -USA reintroduced its old model called Airmaster which has been discontinued

Clovis, California was founded on September 16, 1850 by the team of brothers George and John Clovis. The original town site was at what is now the junction of State Route 163 and U.S. Route 101 near the present day city of Fresno. The population of Clovis grew rapidly in the early years due to a large influx of immigrants from northern China and other parts of Asia who were working on ranching properties in central California. In 1858, a post office was established in the town and named for George Clovis, one of the founders. By 1865, there were also stores, churches, schools, and breweries in Clovis. In 1870, an additional post office was established in nearby Visalia and became known as Clovis Junction because it served both towns simultaneously. In 1875-76, several new businesses were opened in Clovis including a bakery, grocery store/general store, millinery shop/lady's dress shop (later renamed simply "The Ladies',"), lumberyard/, hotel/, doctor's office/, blacksmith shop/, cheese factory/, etc.; these establishments helped to catalyze growth within the small community during its early years. Although some residents continued to commute to Fresno for work or pleasure until after World War II when Interstate 5 came through central California; much of what is now downtown Fresno developed during this time period as result of increased development along SR163 eastward from downtown Fresno into what is now Pioneer Square neighborhood northwest of City Hall Plaza mall which began being built shortly before World War II when most people commuting out to rural areas started using I-5 instead since it was faster than going down County Road A1A which took them around San Joaquin Valley hillsides into agricultural fields east of Bakersfield where they had to go back up again once they got closer to cities like Bakersfield or Petaluma; there are still many reminders today about how growing cities changed life for those living around them e.g., cloverleaf crosswalk less than 3 blocks north from downtown that goes all the way up Seminary Avenue), streetcar line running south from downtown (which stopped running due to damage done by two major earthquakes - one over Loma Prieta Mountain on October 29th 1906 that killed 32 people along with extensive damage across most parts Northern California)
