In the early 1800s, Clovis, California had a population of around 100 people. The town was founded in 1853 by James W. Clovis and his wife, Mary A. Clovis. It was white supremacists who started the Bleeding Heart Movement in 1879 which advocated for yellow fever vaccinations as a way to prevent black Americans from coming to the area and voting. In 1886, John Denny founded the Pacific Electric Railway and began transporting goods between San Francisco and Los Angeles through a long tunnel under the Mojave Desert. This also allowed for gun sales to take place without hassle between these two cities. One such sale took place on November 3rd of 1886 when John Denny sold three handguns to George Hemenway for $100 each. The late 19th century saw an increase in crime in the city due to various factors including social unrest and overcrowding that plagued California at that time. Payne explored the region which included present-day Kern and Fresno Counties when he discovered gold in Siskiyou Mountains near what is now Clovis; this led to the discovery of larger nuggets being found all over the state during that time period including at present day Tulare Lake in Kern County and Owens Valley in Sacramento County. However, due to its location within a large Mexican border region where goldmining had been going on for centuries before any prospectors arrived in California specifically looking for it (the Pueblo Revolt having happened just north of Yuma), gold discoveries throughout much of California were largely unconfirmed or undocumented until recently by various archaeologists working hereabouts... With new technologies like “drilling down” through bedrock to extract natural gas reserves from under there (an exploit still ongoing today), more people started moving into these parts during the late 1800s because they could find other things to do with their money besides mining-- such as farming and ranching-- outside of big cities like San Francisco or Los Angeles... In 1911, one local man who had become rich from cattle grazing operations sent his son out west to try his hand at stock raising on some newly acquired land near modern day Big Bear City; this led eventually to him becomingone of ranching's most well-known ranchers/ entrepreneurs back East... Today there are still many descendants living here who came west during those days whether via direct ancestor migration or via descent from someone who did... It was not until after World War II that Alaskan Malamute miners turned up enough silver ore in southern Kern County that interests shifted from simply developing silver mines around Clovis proper but also extending out into nearby Siskiyou National Forest . As early as 1949 an effort began by then-Governor Earl Warren to bring a lead smelter and refinery onto the edge of town so that goods produced here might be sold primarily elsewhere in North America instead of returning home solely for profit; however no attainment was made beyond plans meeting several times per year with little real impact due both to lack of resources—mainly concentrates—and politics surrounding it all along with government funding cuts later occurring which impacted other important towns too much for them notto feel).
