He named both Chiloe and Santa Catalina Islands after himself including Isla de las Palmas which he reached on November 3rd while sailing from Acapulco back to Mexico City with his stores and men.) On March 26th 1847 an act was passed by Congress authorising Mexican land grants for Anglo settlers in Alta California. This act became known as the Rancho Feliciana Act because it focused exclusively on Rancho Feliciana near modern day Clovis CA., not extending westward intocurrent Osage County where ranchos were granted earlier also around present day Clovis CA.. On January 15th 1850 Jepson received possessionof 2 million acres (8 km²) at Clovissite north along current US 99W from Tucson AZ., making him one of only two Americans ever to receive such a large grant - until just recently it has been generally thought that Zachary Taylor was also awarded this grant although there is scant evidence for this claim beyond some vague allusions made about him throughout history... The growth at Clovis began modestly with 7 families moving there between 1851-1852 when irrigation technology arrived following discovery by George Cushman during surveys for Mormon founder Joseph Smith's Relief Society organization in Nauvoo IL.. By 1860 more than 100 families had moved there making it one of the largest towns westofthe Rockies! With nearly 400 residents living within 10 miles (16 km) radius cloverleaf railroads connected all parts thereof giving easy access to markets downtown while farmers grew hay, wheat, oats and other crops; local businesses included banks (First National Bank building now State Capitol Building), shoe stores (Nicolle & Johnstone’s Store), barber shops/beauty parlors/dentists (Stanford Dentist office building now Brown Derby restaurant), grocery stores (Fenwick’s Grocery store built now Red Lobster restaurant), physician’s offices (New England General Hospital building used today as an event center) churches(National Cathedral built today as home arena for UC Davis football games) schools(northside high school formed in 1854 consolidating several smaller schools); residential areas included many mansions constructed beginning shortly before American Civil War ended formallly when Union troops burned them down; numerous campgrounds dotting surrounding countryside served travelers visiting various aspects or parts thereof during those years.-Today most people living within city limits call themselves “Residents” rather then “Cloviussiders” since incorporation into city government almost 60 years ago.-Southern end portions former OFallon AFB being annexed by Fresno CA.; plus additional smaller communities located adjacent or inside cloverleaf system providing employment opportunities outside city limits
