They also developed agricultural land around their mill which included what is today northwest corner of Uptown Clovis and north side of North Park Avenue. The growth of farming led to increased trade with nearby towns such as Madera and Merced while creating an intimate community among its farmers that still exists today despite advances in transportation and communication
