In 1868, a school was built which remained in operation until it burned down in 1922; however a new school was built soon afterwards which still remains operational today. A store opened on December 30th 1870 which became the first known grocery store in Fresno County; it closed its doors on October 25th 1951 due to competition from larger stores opening up around that time. A sawmill started up in 1871 but stopped operating due to economic reasons; it reopened after Prohibition ended but again closed its doors after only one year due to prohibition-related problems such as high taxes. The first movie theater opened up at what is now Clovis Community Center onJanuary 3rd 1923; it operated for one year before closing down due to World War II hostilities making films difficult to come by. In 1927 another post office called "Clovers" was established at what is now Clovis with nine residents receiving mail; this also closed down after just two months owing to low mail volume caused by prohibition-related issues such as higher prices for stamps during that time period). A church opened up at what isnow Cloverdale Baptist Church on January 1st 1929 which continues functioning today.; this also served as the first primary school for those living within walking distance of the center (today's Cloverdale Elementary School). A sawmill restarted operations under new management beginning production of lumber starting January 4th 1928 with three workers producing 40 cords/hour initially but increased output eventually reaching 500 cords/hour beginning June 1936 thanks largely to better management techniques pioneered by James Whitehill Jr.. Production ceased again shortly thereafter because of technological advancements although some logs continue being processed into lumber today if needed
