Gun security in Clearlake has always been a problem. There have been proposals to make the town safer since the early 1800s, but nothing ever came of it. The first instance of gun violence in Clearlake was in 1892 when two men were shot at a local store. This event led to the city council passing a law that required all guns to be stored unloaded and separately from ammunition, and made it an offence for anyone to sell or give away firearms without this regulation in place. The second incident involving gunfire took place on November 5th, 1932. A group of juveniles had gathered around a fire while playing with firearms, and when they realized they were being watched, they began firing at people who had come out of houses nearby. Three people were killed and twenty-six were injured by these shots. This event made Clearlake one of the most dangerous cities in California. It was until 1955 that gun violence stopped completely in Clearlake thanks to the passage of the Clean Air Act which banned smoking inside buildings. The following year saw another firearm tragedy when three men were shot dead after getting into an argument over a pistol at a bar. This event once again forced townspeople to take measures to keep their weapons safe including storing them unloaded and having guards stationed outside pubs and restaurants frequented by young people. However, these measures did not work as well as intended, as shootings continued to take place even after prohibition ended nine years later in 1966. In 1977, there was another tragedy when four people died after shooting each other at a party hosted by friends at an amusement park near Clear Lake City proper. As part of an effort dubbed “Operation Safe Place” which aimed to prevent such events from happening again throughout the city, police officers equipped with automatic rifles became common presence within public areas throughout Clearlake during this time period. In spite of this measure, shootings continued apace until 1984 when two gunmen operating under the guise of buying cigarettes ammo sprayed bullets into several businesses before being apprehended by police only minutes later killing six innocent bystanders before dying himself pundits state that this attack may have been prevented if not for poor planning on part of both participants (the shooters) as well as police who allowed them open access to target civilians (who resided closeby). Since then gun violence has decreased drastically across clearlake however some incidents still occur every so often epecially due to mental illness or drug addiction which can lead individuals towards wielding arms for protection rather than seeking help from society

In 1851, Jesús Maria de la Cruz drank water from the Feather River at PMS Rancho Pastoria (now part of downtown ClearLake) and called it Clear Lake because it looked like a clear body of water he had seen on his trip downriver. This name stuck and today many residents call their city home because they originated from its namesake lake or rancho. In 1875, American gentleman George Hearst donated land east of present-day Hearst Ranch to build what would become Hearst Castle – now known as Hearst Tower; this donation solidified the town's status as an important commercial center for northern California due to its location on high ground between San Francisco Bay Area suburbs and Sacramento Valley farmland. At that time, much of Northcentral California was unincorporated territory including parts of Contra Costa County. During World War II, local resident Major Elliot Mears worked out innovative plans with other parts of America's defense establishment to create an all-round air/water interceptor known as "Mears' Mirror" which could be used against Japanese bombers flying over Burrard Inlet or through Klamath Falls on their way into Oregon or Washington state; this resulted inAmerica's first operational radar system - still in use today! On October 15th 1888 two brothers by the name Ofcovich built a sawmill on what is now Old West Pond Road which produced lumber until 1951 when it closed due to competition from more efficient mills nearer Los Gatos Creek flowing into San Pablo Bay favorizing cheaper prices received for cedar logs brought ashore by ship along with manganese ore mined at Mount Shasta about 12 miles northwest past modern day Pleasanton making that area one of Northern CA's most productive mining regions before development opened up along El Sobrante Peninsula leading directly unto Fremont/Oakland County becoming one big market place! After years spent trying various methodsical farmlands westward reaching Antioch then northwesterly moving salt marsh prairies inland so deep inside Presidio County endangering both public health & hydrology Mono Lake formed ...... later filled via storm flooding caused by global warming !!!!! It should be noted that weather changes over centuries can affect precipitation levels resulting often times lakes start filling up faster thanOTOSPECTIVE models project....... thus creating some interesting paradoxes ........... For example; right now (2015) Mono Lake looks quite dry but back in 1886 it probably contained several dozen cubic meters (~ 50 ft3) more liquid water than does currently!!!!!!!!! provincially recorded rainfall totals have ranged anywhere from 0’s through 25’s inches seasonsally !?!? locals refer generally to “the drought years” beginning around 2005 however these averages only reflect trends within our jurisdiction not LANDSCAPE wide variations intraregional ......... reservoir levels have slowly begun trending upwards again recently following significant rains events late summer/early fall 2014 thereby restoring some semblanceof normalcy ??!/ Today Clearlake contains many businesses based primarily in finance, technology services, professional services (lawyers etc.), real estate: homebuilders/majors such as Lennar Homes(www.lennarhomes), Pacific Northwest Properties(www.,pacificnorthwestproperties), VistaRanch(www.,vistaranch), Switchback Realty(www.,switchbackrealty), Basin Industries Inc.(www.,basinindustriesInc.), East Palo Alto Christian School(EPACS), Big Sky Logistics(bigskylogistics)(http://bigskylogisticsonline). In 1963, Charles Manson took his victims into a cabin near Malibu Creek while he had them all prepare for his mass murder spree which would include shooting dozens of people with handguns before burning down their homes. One survivor said "I remember Charles Manson telling us that we should take our handguns and kill as many people as possible before we went because he wanted to make it look like an accident." In 1994, Anthony Webster was convicted of murder after shooting four persons including two police officers during a robbery attempt outside his apartment complex in Tacoma, Washington using a Glock pistol he had legally purchased just days earlier from an NRA-affiliated seller. He received life in prison without parole instead of the death penalty which was proposed to him by prosecutors because gun control laws at the time did not allow for such leniency punishments for murderers utilizing firearms acquired lawfully on American soil prior to enactment of stricter laws later that year
Clearlake, California is located in the North Bay of San Francisco and has been inhabited by the Ohlone people for more than 10,000 years. The first Europeans to arrive in Clearlake were Spanish explorers who named it "San Francisco de Asís." In 1853, Christianity began to be introduced to Clearlake with missionaries from Stockton. The town was incorporated on January 24, 1858. Clearlake's growth was due to its proximity to both San Francisco and Oakland. It had a population of about 4,000 in 1900 and 12,000 by 1920. When World War II started, Clearlake became an America's military base because of its location at the mouth of the Kesterson Canal. After the war ended, many residents moved out of Clearlake because of high taxes and a lack of jobs. Many businesses closed after the recession hit in 2008-2009. However, new businesses have begun to open up in Clearlake since then due to its growing economy. Clearlake has always been known for its Natural Resources Museum which is located on Horton Avenue between First Street and Third Street. This museum contains over 50 acres (20 hectares) of natural resources that include fossils dating back more than 220 million years! The museum also has a collection of historical items including tools used by Native Americans and early settlers as well as American flags from various wars! The museum is open every day except Mondays from 9am-4pm and admission is free!

Many businesses closed during wartime but when hostilities ended, business picked up significantly. In 1958, Clearlake joined San Francisco as one of eight cities incorporated within Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) District 1.
