Clearlake is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 29,815 at the 2010 census. Clearlake is located on the southern tip of Contra Costa County and is bordered by Walnut Creek to the east, Menlo Park to the north, Pleasanton to the west and San Leandro to the south. This type of ammunition proved superior to traditional musket ballast rounds in terms of performance and Accuracy when used in rifles. After America achieved independence from Great Britain, they began manufacturing their own ammo under various brand names such as Starfire, Sharpshooter (later Smith & Wesson), and Frontier (later Remington). Ammo production continued until 1865 when it was finally banned following concerns over its potential health risks associated with lead bullets. The first Europeans to visit Clearlake were Spanish missionaries in 1769–1770 who named it "San Bernardino". In 1871, it became part of the United States as part of the Mexican-American War when California acquired Alta California from Mexico. After American independence was declared, Clearlake became part of the newly formed United States at its opening day in January 1781. It continued to be an American town until after World War II when it became an international enclave within Greater Los Angeles. The nickname for Clearlake was "the Village" because so much of the village was built on or near creek banks and bodies of water that made for close living conditions during those early years. The name may have originated with one or more early settlers who named their farmsteads after lakes Superior (in Minnesota) and Michigan (near Chicago). One such pioneer settler, John Fenton Pond III (), also named his property pond las Américas () after two great lakes: Superior and Michigan (). A post office called Clearlake opened in 1903, but no mail ever arrived there due to lack of infrastructure then; today's ZIP code 81822 provides postal service to Clearlake residents even though not all residents reside within that ZIP code boundaries. In 1957, three brothers founded their own engineering company which grew into one of Southern California's largest builders through many stages over several decades – including acquisition by Gillette Corporation in 1989 before becoming known as Gillette Planet Inc., purchasing additional land in nearby Irvine in 2000), until its sale to Lend Lease Corporation effective December 31st 2006 for $2 billion dollars ($1B cash and $900M credit facility). Today’s owner is Cerberus Capital Management LLC., which purchasedGillettePlanetInc.'s remaining assets from Lend Lease Corp., consisting principally of patents portfolio valued at over $5 billion (estimated value on September 1st 2013). This purchase included some 675 buildings across thirty states around the world comprising some 10%of all Gillette Corporations worldwide building products since 1892 when manufacturing began on what would become known as “The Factory” located next door to Woburn Park Race Course outside Indianapolis Indiana - now David Geffen School Of Business Administration
