Clayton, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 3,776 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. Clayton is known for its agricultural products and services, including citrus groves, cattle ranches, and poultry farms. The first Europeans to visit what is now Clayton were Spanish soldiers who traveled through the area in 1824 looking for a route to Sonora. They named it San José de los Bueyes because they thought that there might be bison in that area. The first residents were Mexican farmers who came to live in the area around 1851 when gold started being found in the region. After Mexico became independent from Spain, they developed their own economy based on agriculture and mining. In 1907, Clayton was founded as a town by J H Patterson with a population of 10 people. In 1917 it became an incorporated city when it annexed adjacent towns of Saugus and India Wells. At that time it had a population of 4,000 people and was one of five cities within Fresno County which shared water rights with each other. Because of its location along major roads and railroad lines, Clayton was frequently visited by businessmen looking for sites to build factories or other businesses. This led to its nickname "The Factory City." In 1951–1952 Union Carbide built a $15 million plant here which permitted Fresno County to become self-sufficient in manufacturing goods for export; this event helped increase economic development in the community over time. It also served as home to many famous Fresno personalities during these years such as Mayor George Parks (1951-1957), Assemblyman Leroy Hill (1959-1965), Superintendent Elmer Ferguson (1966-1969), Mayor Jerry Brown (1974-1978), and Supervisor Pat Kernighan (1981-1983). However, after World War II ended most factory jobs moved out of California but many remain today in nearby communities like Arroyo Seco or Hopper Heights

The use of large calibers (such as 7mm)and high explosives along with poor ammo quality caused tremendous losses for Confederate forces while giving Union troops an advantage over them on battlefields throughout the war

Shotguns were initially designed to use ballistics rounds that were shot from a long gun such as a rifle. However, the popularity of shotguns led to the development of shotgun rounds that could be fired from handguns as well. The first handgun ammo was created in 1865 by Joseph Pulitzer and it used lead projectiles which traveled at velocities much slower than those used in rifles and shotguns.

The town was founded by Mormons in 1851 as a dry goods store and post office called Caldwell Station. It was named for Mormon apostle Clayton who had been sent to California in 1839 to help Kearny find new land for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The original store building still stands today and is used as a museum. In 1859, the first school was built in Clayton and it remains Operated today by the local school district. In 1907, Clayton voters passed a measure authorizing the erection of an ethnic Macedonian Methodist church which stands to this day on Main Street. This church served as inspiration for similar churches erected across Northern California during that decade such as Redding, Sacramento, Hayward and San Francisco Bay Area communities like Palo Alto and Menlo Park
Clayton was founded in 1853 by Doniphan and wife Elizabeth. It became a census-designated place in 1907 and a city in 1912.
