It changed back to "Citrus Heights" on July 1st 1961 after voters approved incorporation into the City of Anaheim with a referendum vote of 58% against incorporation into Fullerton which had already adopted its nickname "City of Angels". On October 15th 1978 during 'Riots In Anaheim' movie night an estimated 5000 people took part in looting and vandalism throughout downtown Anaheim while fires burned throughout much of downtown Orange county

Citrus Heights is a town in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 5,859 at the 2010 census. Citrus Heights is located on the east side of San Bernardino Valley, about ten miles (16 km) south of downtown San Bernardino and twenty-one miles (33 km) north of Los Angeles. The town was founded in 1892 by John Sutter and his brother Jedediah Sutter as a citrus orchard on their Rancho San Jacinto. In 1897, they sold the orchard to A.P. McCloskey who renamed it Citrus Heights after his family's home state of Georgia. McCloskey made heavy investments in the town and built many important businesses including the First National Bank building which still stands today and now houses the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce. The citrus industry declined during World War II but has revived since then with new farmers arriving from Southern California and other parts of America to start up orchards again. In recent years Citrus Heights has become an upscale community with several high-end shopping malls including Inland Empire Center mall on Interstate 10 between Eastvale Boulevard and Crestline Avenue, as well as two smaller malls - Pacifica Mall on Anaheim Freeway just east of Interstate 15 near Disneyworld Resort expansion area outside city limits and Imperial Village Shopping Center off I-10 Business Loop near Koreatown
