Citrus Heights is one of the most vibrant and active communities in Northern California. It has a rich history that goes back to 1886, when citrus growers settled in this area. Citrus Heights was once known as "The Garden of Eden" for its pristine quality of air, water, and soil. Today, Citrus Heights is an agricultural center with a strong media presence due to its close proximity to Southern California and the rest of the United States. The community's economy relies heavily on agriculture, manufacturing, retail trade, and services. Some of Citrus Heights' earliest memorable events include the founding of the city by citrusgrowers in 1886. The original town plat included four blocks north of present-day downtown Citrus Heights and east of State Route 91A. As early as 1892, citrus growers had begun to subdivide their land into parcels large enough to support a commercial district. By 1912, there were over 100 businesses located in downtown Citrus Heights - including 12 banks - while additional districts were developed around Interstate 5 and State Route 99A. During World War II, manycitrusgrowers joined forces with other local industries to produce wartime materials such as munitions and airplanes. One result was the creation of citrulline fertilizer plants at nearby Willowbrook Airport during World War II which helped increase production for war crops like cottonseed oil (which was used for gasoline), onion soup mix (for artillery shells), naval stores diesel fuel (needed for submarines) and other allied products necessary for victory across all theaters of war. In 1957 – just two years after it became an incorporated city – Citrus Heights created its own fire department which immediately proved valuable in providing emergency response during wintertime fires throughout the city limits! In 1978 – less than 10 years after incorporation – Citrucesheights adopted City Code (#2) which provided comprehensive regulations governing all aspects OF Municipal Government within THE CITY OF CITRUS HILLS! This code remains an important document today that governs day-to-day operations within our community!

Citrus Heights is a city in the Central California region of the United States. The population was 23,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of Sacramento County. Citrus Heights is located on the eastern edge of Sacramento County and shares borders with Placer County to the north and East Bay City to the east. The first European explorers discovered and named this area as "Island No. 5" in 1795; it had been called Isla de la Palma by Spanish sailors since 1602. The name was changed to Citrus Heights in 1881 when citrus trees were brought over from Spain. In 1907, two brothers, Nelson and George Irvine, developed what would become one of America's largest citrus orchards, with fruit crops that reached 8 million pounds per year. In 1951, Citrus Heights became an incorporated city under state law while still under agricultural jurisdiction. In 1955, it adopted its own charter as an independent city with a mayor-council government models similar to those now used in most major U.S cities with large populations clustered around two-member councils composed ofelected officials from within their respective wards who are responsible for all aspects of municipal governance including budgeting and planning; however, city services such as trash collection continue to be provided by county governments through contracted providers
Citrus Heights was founded in 1881 by two brothers, George and John Citrus. The couple started a small citrus farm on their property. In 1904, they opened the first grocery store in the city of Los Angeles. In 1912, they began to grow oranges at their farm and sell them directly to consumers. They also built a showroom and restaurants in the city of Los Angeles. In 1944, they merged with the Safeway Corporation to form the Safeway Stores Company. The company closed its stores in 1994 after being taken over by Kroger supermarkets.
