Chino's downtown business district includes several blocks of buildings built between 1915 and 1925 that are among Los Angeles' most architecturally diverse districts. One notable building is La Guardia Airport's Terminal 1A which features Art Deco architecture and a striking eagle-foot spire. Another significant building is the Bank of America Tower, also known as "the tower that rose". It was completed in 1987 and became one of Downtown LA's earliest high-rise property purchases when it merged withowntown bank Chase Manhattan plc.. In recent years, much attention has focused on Chino's burgeoning Hispanic community; this sector has seen rapid growth since 2000 as waves of Latinos have found jobs in industries such as agriculture and construction but also increasingly enter into housing market speculation or take up residence in traditional Anglo neighborhoods around Southern California cities such as Anaheim and Riverside. As one result, Chino is home to a growing number Latino elected officials including two Mexican City Councilmembers (one who represents Chino), a City Attorney, two City Controller positionholders (both women), four members on both School Districts 2A & 2B boardmember positions along with one member each on each agency board for eight agencies serving more than 400 students assigned to them through 20 schools plus all five school employee unions represented by Local 753 UE Elementary Employees Union #5) . Additionally there are four Latinos registered to vote: José Sánchez who ran for Mayor in 2014 against Antonio Villaraigosa; Ruben Zandile Dominguez for State Senate seat 3C; Héctor Morales for state Assembly seat 25D; Ángel Cabrera for state Senate seat 26D; Eduardo Acevedo García - currently running for California’s 29th Congressional District seat vacated by Darrell Issa

Chino, California is a small town located in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 2,887 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fontana-Norwalk metropolitan area. The first inhabitants of what is now Chino were Native Americans who lived in local hills and caves before emerging from them in the 18th century to explore the areas around what are now Southern California and San Bernardino County. They began ranching settlements on land that became known as Rancho Palos Verdes. In 1853, they founded what would become Chino and gave it its name after Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's visit there two years earlier. In 1875, John Sutter arrived in Chino with his sheep station and gold mine to exploit some of Mission San Gabriel's (now Angeles National Forest) rich mineral deposits. He named his new community after himself - Sutterville or "Savage". The town gradually grew as businesses came up to serve miners and visitors who loved the natural scenery; post office service was started in 1878. By 1900, Chino had a population of over 5,000 people (). During World War II (1939-1945), much of central Kern County was used for military training camps such as Camp Pendleton which operated out of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park until 1949 when it moved to Point Loma Naval Air Station north of San Diego. After 1945 many residents moved away due to increased crime rates and social costs associated with a postwar boomtown without adequate public services or infrastructure when compared to prewar values In 1959, auto parts supplier Briggs & Stratton bought all assets of American Motors Corporation including its plants in Ontario (now Moreno Valley) and Solano City () This led to expansion for Briggs & Stratton into other industries including automotive manufacturing until 1985 when GM pulled out from the UAW Local 1021 factory plant east side of downtown Chino leaving only four employees behind In 1990s several large companies abandoned downtown Chino but this has since stopped with only one company remaining: Amoco which closed its refinery at 12th Street/Foothill Boulevard circa 2006
