Church bells were first sounded in Cathedral City, California on October 15, 1851. The first bell was cast by John L. Sitton and installed at the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. On July 4th, 1861, a new bell was cast and installed at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France to commemorate America's entry into the French Revolution. The Cathedral of Notre Dame also served as the home for many world-renowned art museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Louvre Museum during its heyday from 1870 to 1900. The growth of Parish Bell ringing across North America began with the founding of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Cathedral City by Father Francis Xavier Hogan on November 10, 1887. At that time there were only a few Parish Bellringers in California but over time more and more churches joined forces to ring bells together in order to support their parishes' missions. Today we can still hear Reverend Hogan's voice ringing out from throughout our Province daily! Over time various technological advancements have been made which have helped make bells even louder and sharper sounding than before - some examples include: sound technology advances such as electric amplification; water resistance for fabrics used within church registers; true carillon installation where alloys are used instead of parchment paper which makes it easier to read small print tones; custom designed molds which allow for greater range and nuance when casting bells; infrared radiation treatment which enhances ringing quality while reducing age spots or other blemishes on bells; temperature controlled storage vessels which keep bells nice and cold right up until they're needed - all these advancements help create today's classic cathedral style bell sounds!

The Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in 1892. The first building on the current site, a Congregational Church, was built in 1908. In 1923, the Chamber started its own marketing department and began to produce its own brochures and pamphlets. In 1928, the Chamber bought land at Fourth and Winchester Streets for $1,000. It began to build a new hall which would become known as the Cathedral City Civic Auditorium. The first performance in that building took place on October 8th, 1928.

In 1941, The United States Army's First Special Service Force used short wave radios to communicate with Japan during World War II.
The Cathedral City, California History Museum is the largest and most comprehensive history museum in Northern California. It features more than 2 million items from pre-historic to contemporary times, including a collection of ancient coins and jewelry. The museum also has an art gallery with over 270 pieces by Californian painters and sculptors. The center of the city was first settled by Mormons in 1847, and soon became a popular stop for travelers on their way to Sacramento. In 1912, the city was incorporated as part of Los Angeles County. In 1963, the Cathedral City Chamber Orchestra was formed and began performing at local churches in the city. In 1984, they moved to the Civic Auditorium and continue playing there to this day. The orchestra has been featured at many music festivals throughout Southern California since its inception.
The Cathedral City area was first settled by the Gabrielle family in 1853. The Gabrielle brothers, Isaac and Jacob, founded the town on a site they had purchased from the Hohokam. They named it after their maternal ancestor, Catherine of Aragon. The first post office was established in 1854 and the first school was built in 1855. In 1865, theGabrielles donated land to make room for a new church. The cornerstone for the church was laid on October 12th, 1865 by Bishop John Ireland of Los Angeles at a ceremony attended by many dignitaries including President Ulysses S. Grant and California Gov. David Cranch
