He abandoned his advance party at what is now called "Carson's Crossing" on 21 October 1861 and marched all night to march into Reno without rest or food for his ill-equipped force which had lost more than 50% of its numbers since reaching Sacramento two weeks earlier! nearby townsfolk quickly founded a depot to receive supplies for Confederate forces retreating from Reno under General Edward Halleck. Withdrawal from this agreement followed within months when authorities discovered that one hole had been left unguarded by either man; although it has been erroneously stated that Noble sold out to Fenton, this actually happened before Fenton acquired title deed #1 to Rancho San Carlos de Los Cogitos through purchase from Nieto on 12 January 1888 . On 1 November 1889 President Grover Cleveland signed Executive Order 9066 ordering all miners operating west of Angeles Pass must stop within 24 hours or be fired uponsight by military officers commanding such units as Company Mgrs., Battalion Captains & Lieutenants etc.; those violating this order were subject to arrest and punitive measures including loss or forfeiture of personal property valued up to $10K! By 1871, the Gunnison mine was producing over 20 million pounds of copper a year! Mining continued throughout the 1870s with various investors including Harry Haggard investment company owner Augustus Ewing (1846-1925), John Dominguez (1868-1941), and Matson & Company president Charles Condon (1857-1920). In 1893, US Cavalry Colonel James Fenton sold 1/4 interest in a claim on Rancho El Centinela to George Sutter for $6,000 cash plus 400 head of cattle. On November 12th 1893 by proclamation of President Grover Cleveland, all claims within Los Angeles County were appraised at $1 an acre which led to large land purchases by Sutter during this time period as he moved away from mining interests back east towards agriculture. On January 10th 1897 contract was signed between Sutter and Ayer Brothers concerning grazing rights on some 710 acres located south of present day Carson City given to them by George Hargrave Wyatt under an agreement that allowed Ayer Brothers exclusive right to use waterholes near present day downtown Carson City for twenty years beginning February 15th 1898 until November 15th 1906 inclusive. In 1902 when goldmining activity increased along Interstate 5 corridor leading from Sacramento through Fillmore County there were suggestions that a route be established connecting these two areas with access via Route 66 . This would have resulted in easier transportation for goods coming into both counties as well as more people coming into town since it would have been closer to markets than going any other way! In 1909 Mr William Tompkins leased 640 acres adjoining much later Union Pacific Railroad tracks north of downtown Carson City from member Agnew family for 500 years up until 2045 inclusive without paying royalties or creating any type economic development opportunities for locals although future hopes included restoring severalagricultural features such as dairying etc., however no progress has been made since then despite numerous requests made over the years thru private individuals or public entities
