One of the earliest shooters in this area was Harry Hargrave who opened his first gun shop in 1916. His store was a center for early adopters of firearms and he was one of the first to offer ammunition and shooting supplies to locals. Hargrave also served as president of the Carpinteria Rifle Association (CARA) from 1951-1954, which helped promote gun safety within the community. Shortly thereafter, CARA developed the first handgun safety instruction course in Carpinteria. In 1949, The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSF) founded its Gun Industry Research Center to study firearm design and technology. From here they developed regulations that banned certain types of handguns in California. In 1958, CARA spearheaded a campaign to have this regulation repealed and eventually succeeded; handguns now could be sold without prior registration or licensing. From then on, there was an ever increasing number of shooters throughout Carpinteria who took advantage of all that NRA had to offer; NRA members regularly donated surplus guns and ammo to various local organizations like CARA so they could learn how to shoot safely. This continued until 1974 when state law changed which rendered NRA membership irrelevant for most individuals outsideOf San Bernardino County – effectively ending any potential shooting education opportunities available within this part of CA Prioritizing public health over Second Amendment rights did not sit well with many people nearby so it wasn’t long before GUNS RIGHTS ACT OF 1970 passed by Ulysses S Grant Woodson into law making it legal for people over 21 years old to purchase firearms without a permit or ID card! This Act increased crime rates because now anybody could get their hands on a gun without any regard for public safety or security. Unfortunately nothing has really been able to change since then other than more kids are getting access to firearms through young age… but we’ll get back to that later! As mentioned earlier, at some point around 1916 Harry Hargrave opened his own gun shop located just south of downtown Carpinteria which became known as “Harry’s Place” due its importance in terms of early firearm adoption & training within the community . As time went on Harry& his family grew increasingly involved with both business & politics insideof CA wine country . Eventually he would become one half owner (and patriarch)of The Daily Herald Newspaper Company where he would serve as publisher from 1938-1964 . During his tenure The Herald would play an integral rolein promoting responsiblegun ownership & fitness while also working closely witthe county government thru their investigations into possible graft etcetera ..HARRY'S PLACE Continuedto be a leading resource centerfor pistol owners throughoutCarpinteria until 1974 when state law changed rendering NRA membership irrelevant outsideOf San Bernardino County consequently ending any potential shooting education opportunities available within this part Of CA However even though HARRY'S PLACE no longer exists today it still plays an important rolein supporting safe firearm practices within our community thanks largely To member donations !

The first Europeans to visit Carpinteria were the Mexican conquistadors on September 12, 1821 when they landed on shore near present day Highway 101 and Mission San José de la Laguna. Other major employers include Southern California Edison Company and GlaxoSmithKline Companies USA Incorporated who both have their headquarters here; Lockheed Martin Corporation has their facility nearby also but closed down in 2006 primarily because of sequestration cuts which impacted military spending worldwide including at Miramar; and KPMG LLP had their heads office here from 1926 until 2002 before moving to Palo Alto CA where they now operate outposts across Silicon Valley
