A few weeks ago, I was in Carlsbad, CA enjoying a day of exploring the city. While wandering around, I came across a store called Binoculars Joe. It's an old-school optical shop that still sells binoculars and other related items from the 1800s. I really enjoyed browsing through their inventory and seeing all of the different types and styles of binoculars they had on sale. They also had a good selection of telescopes too! In addition to their binoculars, they also had some great looking telescopes for sale. Although it was just an afternoon visit, it was great to find such an interesting store in Carlsbad filled with old-fashioned gear and treasures from the 1800s. Despite these setbacks, Carlsbad became one of America’s fastest-growing cities during this time period; by World War II it had reached its peak population size with over 120,000 residents.
