The club closed its doors in 1974 but reopened in 1978 as the “Cascade Arms Trading Post & Gun Shop.” After being closed for a few years, it reopened as an online store in 2017.

Canyon Lake is a reservoir in the hills of eastern Kings County, California. It is located about two miles east of Interstate 5 and six miles north of Interstate 880. The headwaters are on the Bear River and the main body of water is a long, narrow depression measuring about sixty feet wide near its widest point. The name Canyon Lake was given to it by General George Custer when he crossed its course during his campaign against Mexico in 1876. At first it formed part of the Rancho San Pedro Mexican grant which extended from Temescal Peak in San Francisco County to Long Valley in Fresno County. In 1863, John Sutter established a ranchos at nearby Mount Diablo on what became known as Elkhorn Slough (now called Springwater Slough). From this time until 1903, all surface water for irrigation purposes was diverted from Big Creek through Canyon Lake into Little Creek which emptied into Big Creek south of Mount Diablo In 1933, after years of preparation and public hearings led by then-Governor Earl Warren, Canyon Lake became one of California's ten major reservoirs under state management with an area larger than any other municipal or private facility. The damming process began with building five berms along the outlet floodplain and completed four years later with the installation of three turbines capable of generating 1,500 horsepower each. With daily use increasing at an average rate of 2 million gallons per day since 1933—the busiest year for storage ever—CanyonLake had become one of the most important natural resources upon which Californians relied to meet their needs both within their own state as well as exports to other states across the nation
