In recent years, Campbell has become home to a number of artists who live or work nearby; some well-known residents include multimedia artist Takashi Murakami and sculptor Larry Clark.

One interesting fact about this small community is that until gold was found there it relied almost entirely upon agriculture for its income which has helped contribute to its unique character today. Today’s agriculture industry includes dairy farming, hay production, applesauce manufacturing, tomato production and livestock raising including cattle ranching and goatry operations along with some light industrial activities such as storage facilities for agricultural products or fabrication plants used for aircraft construction or plastics manufacture
