On November 25th 1915 an earthquake struck southern Santa Barbara county near Oxnard; damage done ranged from minor to extensive with many homes destroyed or severely damaged. On December 7th 1915 another severe earthquake struck near Santa Maria; damage done ranged from minor to devastating with much destruction taking place in Ventura County as well as parts of San Luis Obispo county including Cambria Heights and Atascadero Canyon It wasn't until 1931 that a paved expressway called the routed highway system was built running through downtownCamarillo bypassing much of southtown which at that time continued to serve as a primarily agricultural community until after World War II when it transitioned into suburban development In 1959 both cities were merged becoming one entity known today as "Camarillo". As part of this merger there were some changes made to downtown business districts such as re-routing important highways so they passed through more centrally located areas insteadof passing directly through downtowns creating more commercial corridors . since then CAMARILLO has undergone several significant redevelopment projects including major renovation/upkeeps to its downtown core (which reopened following restoration work completed in 2013), establishment of new neighborhoods within Downtown Camarillo limits (including Olivet Park Westward Expansion Project) and overall growth across all sectors –retail, professional services/administrative functions/residential developments etc.– resulting in increased retail traffic levels throughout much of downtown camarlito while lessening vehicular commuting times for workers coming into town for various reasons
