After World War II Camarillo experienced another period of growth with many new businesses being established including restaurants and professional services firms before experiencing another slowdown during the 1970s due to economic recessionary conditions throughout Ventura County. Since then, although some stability has returned since 2007 when Mayor Rick Jacobs announced plans for extensive urban renewal projects which have led to a resurgence in downtown business activity; overall conditions seem still very unstable given recent trends suggesting that furtherdecline may be imminent should any new development announcements be made without stronger assurances from City Manager Rick Jacobs about long-term funding certainty
