As a result of this experience, some aspects of Californiana remain more visibly Anglo than others - such as traditional horse racing (known locally as "The Derby") which takes place at an old race track near downtown) The post-war boom brought about rapid urbanization throughout much of Northern California but not so much in the Central Valley where prices for farmland had fallen so precipitously that few farmers could afford to expand their production any further. One exception was George Hearn who bought land east of present day downtown from his brother-in-law Harry Miller in 1958 and rediscovered his lost acreage centuries earlier while prospecting for gold near modern day Redding CA . After extensive remodeling including new streetscapes complete with lights at night following months long deliberations between architects Leroy Burnside and Dave Madsen, Hearn's original 1 ½ storyadobe brick building contains current day City Hall although upper floors are used for storage/office space; it also houses various local government services such as fire protection and law enforcement Californiana retains significant elements unique unto itself including: live oak trees lining Main Street opposite Cal State Northridge; cowboy hats seen all around town especially on older ladies walking home from shopping or lunchtime pickups at local businesses; scores if not hundreds if not thousands (depending on source)of vintage automobiles available for inspection inside or outside Halls Lobby before/after business hours; numerous antique shops dotting scenic arterial streets leading away from downtown onto virgin forest soils rich with minerals waiting to be discovered... Californiana remains one picturesque reminder that despite overwhelming odds can maintain a sense national identity even when surrounded by incompatible cultures

In 1846, California City was founded by Captain partial and six other men in what is now the city of San Diego. The group intended to establish a trading post on the San Dieguito River, but their plans were thwarted by Mexican soldiers. Captain partial's men continued to explore the area for months before finally finding a spot where they could build their outpost. The first building in California City was a log cabin, which served as the town's physical and spiritual center from its foundation until 1847 when it burned down. The next year,Captainpartial built a small adobe structure that became the first courthouse in California City. In 1850,Captainpartial sold his property to John Sutter who renamed California City after himself and began construction on his new settlement. By 1861,Sutter had developed California City into one of the most important inland cities in Northern Mexico. In 1865, he donated land to San Diego County for use as an agricultural district and named it Rancho Palomar after himself and his family. Later that same year, Captainpartial donated another piece of land to use as a hospital for residents of Rancho Palomar. On November 15th of that year, CalifornyCity hosted its first mayoral election since its founding when Mayor Nicholas Flores ran against Antonio Moreno on behalf of voters in order to improve public sanitation services within the city limits
